View Full Version : Which is best-Vitamix 1 speed or multi-speed?

I've been thinking about investing in a VitaMix blender due to all of the positive experiences people have posted about them. I haven't seen a post regarding pros or cons regarding the one speed VitaMix or the one that has variable speeds. I do know that the variable speed costs more and has a shorter warranty.
Does anyone use a multi-speed and recommend it highly anyway?

Thanks for your responses.

Peace :)

I've never seen a Vita-Mix w/ one speed. Where did you? http://www.vitamix.com/household/products/super5000/index.html

I absolutely love my variable speed Vita-Mix. My mom has one with only one speed, and it is not nearly as versatile.

O.kayyy, there must be one around then!!! :D I love my variable speed too. Me honey purchased a k-tec for me. Reason I don't use that is because it starts at too high a speed and some things I feel need to be started then worked up to ~ which I can do w/ my Vita-Mix.

Oh, I LOVE my Vitamix multispeed machine!

You can start from "just barely turning" and amp it up to #10 (really going strong) and then...

flip the switch to HIGH and let 'er rip!

Makes the best smoothies, hummus, tahini, "soups" etc.

Also I have the second container for turning seeds and grains into flour, I used to use that a lot, not too much anymore unless my wonderful spouse "needs" some muffins. Keeps him away from Dunkin Donuts! Then I grind my own wheat flour, and make him some pretty darn good muffins, if I must say so myself! I don't know, I haven't tasted them for the past 2 months, but they keep disappearing...

Whichever one you get, have fun using it!

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your replies. I think I'll try the variable one given the satisfaction you have with it. ;)
