Almond Butter

Does anyone know if you have to keep almond butter or peanut butter refrigerated so that it does not oxidize?

After its opened. If not, it'll go rancid.

How long can you keep almond and cashew butter in the frig? I bought it, opened it to taste, put in in the frig till I had other ingredients for a certain recipe, forgot which recipe I wanted to make so wasn't able to get the other ingredients and kind of forgot about the butters. Now I'm wondering if they are still good?

I would imagine, as long as they don't smell rancid, they should be okay.
