To break off this addiction I have developed for sugary baked goodies as of late! I have always loved baked goods, but lately...I'm scarfing this stuff up at a crazy rate.
I wake with the goal of raw everyday and find myself with a cookie in hand. Agh! I've never had this much trouble laying off the sweets, any suggestions on how to stop!?!?!?!
Thanks in advance ya'll!;)

I would start off with GREEN SMOOTHIES, and go from there.

Baked goods are the #1 thing that pull me off my raw food.

When it happens, the next day I tell myself I can eat raw sweets all day if I crave them. I may have raw ice cream for breakfast with raw chocolate sauce and a raw shake for lunch. By dinner time I am craving a salad or green smoothie.

I usually try to start the day with a green smoothie or green juice, but I just don't want them if I have been eating cooked food.

I would start off with GREEN SMOOTHIES, and go from there.

Thats what I would do as well. They are easy to become addicted too! I would transfer my baked goods addiction to one for smoothies and green smoothies!

Sesame milk. A craving for sweets is a craving for calcium, according to Victoria Boutenko. Sesame seeds contain high amounts of calcium. Drink sesame milk on an empty stomach for a couple weeks, and you should feel better.

MORE FRUITS NOW! Of course green smoothie do miracle.

Beside, learn to do those amazing quick desert. Check Allisa recipe book. I would recommend fudge ball etc...

Don't beat yourself up. Focus always on your accomplishment. Don't make excuse to eat those cook cookies, but neither use guilt if you do eat them. Making excuse or guilt built up the addiction. If you accept this isn't good for you and still choose to eat them, this is ok. All is well and you will do fantastic. Making room for the good stuff and every positive thing that you have done are an accomplishment.

You may want to have a plan. Perhaps there is something stressfull going on during those craving time, try to have a plan. I made the choice to try to feel my physical sensation when i would crave for coffee in the past. I felt a lot of pain with the thought of not having that coffee and the next time, it was easier and easier to the point that i was free from this addiction once and for all. I found for me, i would have only those cravings when i would be bored.

Green smoothie really heal addiction and make the transition to raw food easier.

You will be ok and be proud of yourself!

I third the green smoothie suggestion.

Also, have you had a look at some of the wonderful pastry recipes on this site? Do you have a dehydrator? If so then there are a heap of tasty, satisfying recipes like cinnamon scrolls, pancakes, etc that you could make an have on hand when the cravings hit.

I'm just about to make a batch of cinnamon scrolls from a recipe I made, and Rawkinlocs has a great cinnamon scroll recipe on here. They definitely hit that 'pastry spot' for me.

Sweet crackers do it too, especially when they are smothered with nut cream and chopped dates or other sweetener.

Definitely try both the green smoothies and making your own raw pastries. Also, if there's a raw place near you, or a wholefoods store that sells raw stuff like that, it'd be heaps better than chowing down on the SAD versions!

Key for me is not buying them. I have children in the house every day and a SAD husband who likes to snack and so I buy things for them that don't tempt me. If I get things I particularly like I will eat them, just the way it is. Usually for me it is very impulsive so if I have to actually take the time to make something raw I won't do it...trying to keep something raw you like on hand would help I think, whatever you really enjoy that's sweet. Yes fruit and smoothies would be first choice but if you want dessert type sweet try brownies or truffles, something like that. You have been such an inspiration to me so many times...wishing you find what works for YOU~*hug*

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas ya'll!:D
I'm starting my day with a plan and I'm adding greens to my smoothie this morning. I'm also going to have lots and lots of sesame milk! Thank you for that knowledge! I have always been a huge dairy eater until I went raw, so, this may be a huge need for my body...calcium. I will also add more greens (buy way of smoothies as suggested) and broccoli!
Thanks you guys. I'm trying for 100% raw today. Wish me luck. :)

Alissa has a recipe in her book for Almond Butter Balls. These satisfy my 'sweets' addiction and my kids absolutely love them too. They are very easy to make as well.

1/2 cup sunflower seeds (ground up in a coffee grinder)
1/2 almond butter
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup raisins.

Mix all ingredients together and roll them into balls. The recipe doesn't call for this but I then roll them in shredded coconut. They are delicious!!!

Everytime I have broken an "addiction" it's by temporarily replacing it with something else. Once the craving for the addictive substance is broken, so is the need for the replacement. Examples: Broke the cig habit by using nic patches, sugar and cream habit by using honey and almond milk, coffee/tea habit by drinking rooibos chai, Ice cream cravings with nut milks and frozen fruit, bread/pastry cravings by eating manna bread with almond butter and honey, then later switching to raw crackers. It's all about finding something to help you make the transition. Doing it cold turkey or with green smoothies...neither of those worked for me.

I haven't broken the craving for sweets. I still do plenty of indulging in that area by making all sorts of raw goodies. That may never change.

I'm sure with a little persistance you will find what works for you. GOOD LUCK!

Definitely get that green smoothie in your hand before the cookie!

You'll find the more active you are at putting the greens into your day and nourishing yourself, especially with some sweet fruits like orange and banana, that you really won't have the desire come up for the bad sweets later.

You can always sub a date or orange or something if you are really still having the craving.

Also, a handful of raw oats and/or raw almonds in your gs will add lots more calcium and make it more filling. Even if you do this a few times, you will probably naturally gravitate towards lightening up the smoothie as your body starts to crave lighter food.

Hang in there -- it definitely shifts when your body is ready. But as Raw Angel Mom said, a plan is very helpful. Even if your plan is something simple like to get 2 quarts of gs in per day.

Baked goods in the office are a huge problem this time of year, I counter act it by bringing in some vegan (this year raw) treats so I don't feel deprived or give in to temptation. Unfortunately this year, I didn't start bringing in my stuff soon enough and I succumbed to some chocolate chip cookies:eek:. I am definately going to make some treats this weekend in defense.
