I've implemented more raw foods in my families diet for a long time now, they all enjoy the SAD type foods. For the past two weeks I've tried to remain as raw as possible. I still cook the SAD for them, and I have a hard time with temptation. At this time I have found it easier to stay totally raw during the day and I can Only have 1 item that is non raw at dinner ( I know this is not what the site promotes but I am trying to wipe out the many years of the really bad crap I've put into myself.) One day at a time............

Anyhow I present mostly raw items at the dinner table. These items have been viewed as side dishes, desserts etc.

Well I bought a pineapple two days ago, the boys have been waiting to cut it open. Well I made the SAD dinner last night, with raw veggies and fruit all in small dishes (the SAD was in small dishes). I used a serving platter (like ones used on Thanksgiving) I shredded some cabbage and carrots as the bed. I surrounded the pineapple with cherries,scallions/green onions,& grape tomatoes. I took it to the head of the table and gave my husband the carving knife & serving fork. We said our grace, and to be honest most of the SAD was left over which is really good for the old army school meat and potatoes guy I married ( or Should I say more than a FEW :D Iread too many old threads)
The boys picked out a pot the next day to replant the crown!!!!! :p
Just thought I'd share

RAW one bite @ a time

that's adorable!

I go through 4-5 pineapples a week; they're my favourite fruit. I will have to try it with the other fruits/veggies you made it with.

Can you really replant the crown and grow a pineapple??

OH yeah...I wanna know...can we grow a pineapple? That would be sooooo cool...I mean, you know, a pineapple tree of course. What zone would that include?

Dawn,
How wonderful for you and your family! I was picturing your husband carving up the ol' pinapple-a much prettier thought than carving up a dead carcass!

That is how DOLE grows them. Personally mine never had a chance too get fruit in the past, I'd travel for work and they would get forgotten. Even w/o fruit they make a beautiful plant cheaper than an air filter!!!I was back in CA for a month and they had some for sale ($16.00  ) there was a tiny pineapple on it. I told my kids it was too cute too want to eat! :p

Have a great one Y'all

Dawn, what a great thing to have happen! I also incorporate alot of raw dishes to our dinners. Some evenings, it is 100% raw dinners.

Keep up the good work with your family!

Blessings.

A BIG PAT on the back to you Dawn!!!

If feels GREAT doesn't it?

I remember when my 1st born was little and eating her sad dinner, I'd just be watching her put her fork in her food and then in her mouth thinking.....it just doesn't feel right, I didn't feel like my baby was putting healthy food into her body, and yet it was all that I knew. That was WWWWAAAAYYYY before I ever started with the healthy thing.

Now we sit at our table and it feels SSSSSSOOOOO gratifying, satisfying and fulfilling to KNOW I am giving my family the best that I can. AND THAT THEY LIKE IT !!!!! Well.....ha, ha, most of the time. When I try new dishes it's a challenge.

Sounds like your family is starting to accept more raw foods.

GOOD FOR YOU !!!!!!! :D

another trick for the leek and scallion/green onion eaters

when you snip the bottoms (they have small brushy roots) place in a wet paper towel overnight & plant the next day. Bury just enough to lightly cover the white, water. They'll regrow
