I am going to ask Santa for a dehydrator for my Xmas present. I am looking at either the Good4u or an Excalibur. I was all set on a Good4u because Alissa had them in her store- however she is no longer offering so I am back to hemming and hawing over what to do what to do.
It is just me that will be using it. So I am asking all you fellow peeps which one do you like the Good4u or Excalibur, is the one with more drawers better, or can I get by with the ones that just have a few drawers.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

I don't have either one of those but I have heard good reports on both. I seldom use the one I have because I simply don't have need to. Now I can't make it with My Vita-Mix.

Very happy with my Excalibur. :)
I thought getting the 9 tray model might be overkill, but is most assuredly not.
I fill it up all the time. (I do have kids I'm making stuff for, too, though.)

9-tray Excalibur all the way. Reason is ~ you can remove the trays to put in larger things; you've got more room/space. You cannot remove the trays on the Good4You (at this time) so, if you want to warm a dish, you'll have to find another option.
I've had mine for YEARS and will not give it up.

I have the 5 tray excalibur and it has worked for me. There are times, when I want to dehydrate several things at the beginning of the week, so I am not dehydrating all week long, that I wish I had ordered the 9 tray, but really for the most part the 5 tray one has worked~~I,too, use the dehydrator only for myself. I have been able to remove trays and put in a larger container in mine, too. I guess, it all depends on how much you want to dehydrate at one time.

I have had the 10 tray Good4U Dehydrator for 3 days and so far so good.
I have never used the Excalibur but I am the Good4U has lived up to all my expectations.
But I wish I had just gotten the 6 tray because this other one is too big and no way I will use all 10 trays at the same time.
I made 2 zuchini, 2 yellow squash and 1 half-pound box of mushrooms and all this took 3 drawers.
I am making vegetable shish-kabobs

Thanks everyone for all the great input! I am going to put the excalibur on my Christmas wish list.
I love the idea of being able to warm things in there in the same bowl I am to eat from instead of using my Vitamix then having to wash it and the bowl.
If anyone else wants to add any other input please feel free.!
Thanks again everyone!

Hi -
This is Robert, from RawFoodLife.com. I've was the largest dealer for Good4U dehydrators on eBay and recently had to stop selling most of them myself. The reason is that they basically are sold out (I have a few 6 tray models left). I've replaced them with another brand that is EXACTLY THE SAME, made in the same factory in China. It is called the VegiKiln, and this distributor is much bigger than Good4U, so they will not run out! In addition, they provide a very high level of quality control, which smaller companies can't offer. I will have 6, 8 and 10 tray models available. I personally provide an unconditional 60 day guarantee, too.
Good4U trays are completely removable, but because they are self-closing there is no separate door. This creates a better horizontal airflow, for quicker drying and a quieter fan, than the much more expensive models. However, when you remove a tray it does leave an empty space in the front. Good4U will be coming out with "blank" tray fronts soon to fill those gaps, though I just use a piece of aluminum foil.
I am still a Good4U dealer and when they come out with the blank tray fronts soon I will have those in my eBay store. My first listing on eBay is for a 10-tray model (item #350138970882) or contact me at robert@RawFoodLife.com for more info. They'll be on my web store soon, too.
I have sold hundreds of these dehydrators, for a fraction of the price of the bigger competition...and I have yet to hear anything bad about them! I also have the more expensive brand, but I actually like using the Good4/VegiKiln better. For one thing, I used to keep the expensive 9 tray I had in the garage since it was so noisy, but my Good4U sits in the kitchen without a problem.
A apologize if this sounds too promotional but someone emailed me and told me that Alissa stopped selling Good4U and wondered what to do, so I thought you guys should know what is going on since Alissa was a terrific Good4U supporter and I know some of you folks on Raw Food Talk still want to buy them.
Thanks
Robert

I have the 9 tray excalibur and it's great. You can remove the trays when you need more room...like when you're making Alissa's "Pesto Stuffed Mushrooms".
I also have kids and I can't make enough stuffed mushrooms for my son. One day I made them with the excalibur...and he says to me.."I had an accident..." I said, "What"...He said," I ate a whole tray of your mushrooms".
Good thing I had more trays in there or i'd of killed him!!

Oh I love this! I've had the same thing happen and it's so nice to not be worried when your kids eat a "whole tray" of dehydrated raw items!

I would say get the largest Excalibur that you can afford. You won't regret it.

I have the Excalibur and LOVE it! I thought I wouldn't need 9 trays, but man, I have been glad I have all 9!
