View Full Version : A Jolly Holly December Fitness Challenge

Morn
12-01-2008, 04:38 PM
It's December and with all of the parties we will be going to and extra Holiday eating we tend to do, I think it is a good idea to stay focused on our physical activity during the month to help us get/stay lean. We need to continue to make this a priority as a gift to ourselves. And what better gift can you give to yourself than that which will help you de-stress during the holidays and make you feel great at the same time. So who is with me for December? I don't want to be the only one with jingle bells ringing on my feet! You define your own exercise goals - just stick to them and record what and when you do it here on this thread. The key is to get movin and not get mistaken for a Santa Claus or Mrs. Claus lookalike!

Now some potential Ideas:

walking, Running, Aerobic exercise, dancing, yoga, rebounding, weight lifting, biking, swimming, rollerblading, Wi Fit!

Hey there-

Didnt exercise yesterday because I was so tired (had been up two days straight finishing up a project for class)...

Today, I will go to the gym tonight....

You are definitely right about being focused...lots going on this month and so it really won't be in my best interest to skip too many workout days. I feel so much better now that I've have that project out of the way and after a much needed "movement" if you know what I mean. Stress not only bloats me but shuts things down so to speak.

Don't know what to do today at the gym but I need to start challenging myself again. Think I'll try to think of some sort of December weekly challenge or something.

Anyway, to make a long story short, I am going to the treadmill with some hill intervals or something like that.

Today I was kind of short on time, had errands to run so I figured while out on errands one was to a large indoor mall so I did 4 laps around lugging around a few shipping bags. A few of those vendors with the little stands outside the stores looked at me like I was crazy.

I also did a 30 minute toner work out at home - one of those taped work out with light weights.

Today's exercise: 1 hour of spinning.

Since I was running late this morning I decided to mix things up a bit and take a spin class. Even with my padded seat it was still pretty uncomfortable but still a good class. I got a decent workout but not my favorite class to do.

Eva my trip went good. My mom behaved herself...what a relief! It was good to see my family and friends. I am glad I went home as my grandmother does not look good :( She looked so frail and very pale and she hardly spoke which is VERY unusual for her. She used to have a motor mouth..lol. I made a few raw dishes for my birthday party. One of my best friends loved all the stuff I made. My Dad on the other hand hated everything but the blondies...lol. Oh well can't please them all. I drank every day when I was there and now I am back on track again and not drinking ( well much anyway).

I plan on working out tonight and will post tomorrow what I did at the gym.

This is my first time viewing this thread and my 8th day participating in this community. I read your statistics and it helped me because I had a rough day. Your beginning weight and your goal weight are virtually the same as mine--with a 5 pound variance. While you are close to your goal weight, I am just starting this time. I support you and will follow your journey to help me with mine.

Sorry I have been MIA. With the business of the holidays, I have had a challenge fitting it all in but I finally made it to the gym today. I needed to as I have been eating so much more with all the holiday parties and such. I made a wonderful raw pumpkin cheesecake and while healthy (it still contains many calories and fat!) I so needed to burn off those extra calories! While I was at the gym I ended up working out with an old co-worker which was really nice. It made the time on the stairmaster go by so much quicker and less pain-free. I also passed out flowers to several of the aerobics instuctors as a thank you for helping me get back into shape!

Today's workout - 45 minutes

30 minutes on the stairmaster
10 minutes on the treadmill
5 minutes of abs

Good for you! That's neat running into ol' friends. I have been eating way too much too. And I've been on a chocolate run (non-raw) I need help to hit a bottom and stop. Any advice?

My advice is to make some Raw alternatives that have chocolate in them like RP's brownies (dates, walnuts, and cocoa) with some store bought frosting on top (coconut oil, cocoa and agave nectar). If you need exact recipes do a search with the banana. THey are listed on this site somewhere.

They always do the trick for me. I make up a tray of them, cut them and freeze them in slices in individual baggies and when I get the urge I pull one out of the freezer. It gets me through my chocolate cravings.

I was too tired yesterday to post my work out - OMG there was just so much snow out there yesterday:

I shoveled our 2 car drive way (our drive way is about 16 feet across and 30 feet long) and our front side walk. I measured the snow at the bottom of our driveway and there 2 feet of snow down there from all the plows. Took me about an hour.

I also did a 20 minute work out on my pilates machine.

There is lots of snow - it is snowing again right now! LOL no walking outside -unless I enjoy falling down...nah too old for that. Lesile's work out tapes are about doing your work out to music walking in the indoors.

Today I have already done 20 minutes on my pilates machine working my upper body. I should do some kind of other cardio today too....maybe one of my firm tapes if I have time. I have the kids today so time is short.

It sure has been busy this holiday and I still have wrapping to do tonight. After yesterday's episodes of car problems, getting stuck in the snow, etc. I am just happy to be home and safe and out of the weather. However, I finally got a chance to work out and it felt great. We sure have got slammed with a bunch of snow here in Michigan. So it will definately be a white Christmas. Today’s exercise: 55 minutes

25 minutes of circuit training with weights
25 minutes of high/low aerobics abs/
5 minutes of abs/inner thighs

Holidays to everyone !

p.s. Costco had work out tapes for sale - $9.99 for the first and the second is free. I got am and pm yoga, walking with Leslie Sansone, line dancing and some other dance work out one. Never can have too many work out tapes just incase you have some spare time - pop one in instead of watching tv. The Firm and Windsor Pilates are still my favorites.
