Hi=)

Today I'm planning

-dandelion tea
-tomato, parsley, garlic smoothie
-taco salad
-zuchini marinara w/ "sauteed" portobello mushrooms, red onion and green bell pepper all warmed up in dehydrator
-brownie truffles

I have been spending a lot of time drooling over new recipes online at night, so be ready for my reviews of gingerbread, banana pecan brittle, christmas fudge....anyone have a new wonderful recipe that will make me feel absolutely undeprived?=)

I'm glad to be on this journey with you!

Happy Monday to everyone!
I had a great raw weekend, I just wasn't able to get online and post.

I was eating lots of nuts, avocados, gRAWnola, etc. because I was planning on doing a big run yesterday. However, it got canceled because the road was too icy, so I ended up consuming a ton of extra food for nothing.
So today during lunch I need to head over to the gym.

This morning I've been eating lots of fruit - 3 bananas, 2 apples, and 2 or 3 oranges...probably a bad sign that I can't remember.

Anyway - I have some salad stuff in the fridge for lunch. Not sure about dinner...I have a ton of broccoli, so I'll probably try to make some sort of broccoli salad. I don't know though, because I don't want any dried fruit or nuts, and that's exactly what comes to mind when I think of broccoli salad (with almonds and raisins). hmm...any ideas for me?

Mornin' everyone!
Started the day with a huge salad with lots of diced veggies and a jalapeno....just the right kick to get this party started!:)
Had some cravings the past couple of days, but stayed strong and went for dulse and spirulina and that seemed to calm things down nicely....
lots o' bananas and oranges on the menu for today...

Having a weird day today!! Yesterday was the first day in a couple that I hadent struggled! today is weird because its 1pm and ive been up since 6 and have only had a banana and an apple! VERY odd for me. I usually don't post what I eat (completely) because I eat so much I usually cant remember!! lol

Thick - I need to try a savory smoothie! Yours sounds good, I just cant get myself to do it!! im scared of what it will taste like! I need to just grow some balls and do it!!

Hopefully, ill want to eat soon! I want a mango, however, I am not hungry right now. so I am going to wait to be hungry then eat it!! Working on the listening to my body thing!! lets see how long I can hold out!!

Good morning all!! I am feeling great today! I woke up early this morning and am just ready to go!! I've had lemon water with my meds. and am going to have some carrot/apple/spinach juice in a bit.

Lunch will be a big ole GS!!! It will have soaked chia seeds, 1/4 of an avo, blueberries, a couple banana chunks, LOTS OF GREENS, coconut oil!! I will soak the chia seeds in red zinger tea, so it will add alittle fruity taste that way too.

I will probably have a snack

Dinner will be a juice (I think)

Peace to all!!

I'm eating 3/4 apples this morning.. Idk whats for lunch prob a big salad with romaine, cukes, tomaters and celery! Dinner will prob be a salad too. I am still trying to get used to eating raw (mentally) and the light feeling in my stomach when I eat..
I've been to a couple of parties lately where the hosts have bought me a couple of veg trays which everyone else were eating off of too! Was great. :) Made me miss the cake and junk food less when I had something to munch down too! They even had vinegar and oil which I used the vinegar to rinse off my foods since veg trays could poss be "dirty" vegs just thrown in there..

good morning! We're into the second half of our month and I am so happy that we are all still here together :)

I finally tried the durian - overall, I would say it was alright. I really didn't love it or hate it. I was kind of surprised because I thought I would have a stronger reaction one way or the other.

It did have a smell, but it was not overly powerful when I first opened it. I didn't eat it all at once, I put some of it in the fridge, and that definitely started smelling stronger.

The taste was sort of custard like - but what got to me was the texture. It was just kind of mushy. My husband tried it too and had a similar reaction, he didn't hate the taste, but he did hate the texture.

Anyway - I found a recipe online for raw durian ice cream so I made that yesterday afternoon. It ended up being more of a moose or pudding because I didn't freeze it.

Basically, I just put into the food processor: durian, cashews, water, agave, cacao, celtic salt, coconut butter, and vanilla. It turned out yummy - the durian gave it a custard like taste/texture. It was super filling, I couldn't finish all of it.

Overall I would say the durian was okay - I probably wouldn't buy it again since it was expensive, but I wouldn't be opposed to having it again if I happened to come across it.

That basically ended up being my dinner last night - along with an asian pear and a persimmon.

This morning I had another pear & persimmon, oh and a banana. I also had a nori wrap, yum! It's still kind of early, but I think I'm going to have my salad now. I may regret it this afternoon when I get hungry again, but I'll deal with that then.

I have had an incredibly bad day. Very emotional..but also some new insights for which I am grateful. I will continue to follow the pain down inside and analyze all the sources.

For now, I'm off to take my dog for a walk then come home and get all hopped up on cacao and make bags of donation toys.

This is so much easier than I thought it was going to be.

On the bad side, Ive started my detox. My tongue is all furry, and certain muscles are just weak/sore. I did a heavy exercise, but not enough tow arrant two days of soreness. From what I read, I have the same amount of energy, but the energy is being transferred to detoxing and reapiring internal organs rather than muscles.

You'll probably try to scrape your tongue like me and find that it gets most of the white stuff off, but the color of the tongue doesn't change. It isn't really noticeable unless you are looking at it in the mirror.

GS today will have: romain (the last of my greens), blueberries, cherries, a couple banana chunks (the last of what's frozen) and some chia soaked in red zinger tea!! Oh yeah COCONUT OIL!!

Have a great day!!

It helps me so much to sit and write out my plan for the day with you guys=)I don't always eat exactly according to plan--but taking the time to plan and assess what ingredients I have and what I'm in the mood for has really helped me.

Today-

-Blackberry banana spinach smoothie
-asian wraps with boston lettuce, mung bean sprouts, cilantro and cucumber with wasabi dipping sauce and "peanut" sauce
-escarole ( a new purchase--its good, not too bitter or peppery) with some sort of dressing..maybe caesar
-fruit salad with honey and cashew whipped cream

-also
*soak buckwheat for pizza
*make some gingerbread

I am so overwhelmed. I am trying to remember that there was a time when I was not overwhelmed in the same circumstances and that I'll be there again soon.

I hope you smile a lot today=)>

Hey all.. Today I have eaten so far about a half cup of sunflower seeds. broccoli & cucumber salad. I've been so stressed out right now. I finished my semester and only failed one class so I guess it's good. passed 5 classes.. Not too bad considering was taking 6 hard classes. :) I'll look on the bright side of things. :)
I'm eating the same things every day.. Need to eat or try something different but I am so stressed out and in a rut right now with the same eating pattern, same foods every day. I need to try something different.
Hope everyone is having a great day today.

Vaclare - focus on the 5 classes you did pass! How great is that! My son has 4 A's and 1 D this quarter, but I tried something different and rewarded him for the A's and did not mention the D this time. I will keep telling him how bright he is and how he can do so well for himself. I am hoping that will inspire him to do better in the other class?? We shall see...at least it is worth the try. And, I am proud of his achievements in the other classes. After all, it is very difficult to be able to comprehend everything taught in school. Good luck to you and keep going. You are stressed out, but you are still trying and doing. You are a strong person. Hang in there...;)

I had the yummiest pears this morning! They were SO ripe and juicy.

Right now I'm having a big salad with kale, celery, tomato, broccoli, sunchokes, and dulse.

I'm looking forward to going home because I have one persimmon left.

I also have a coconut and a pumpkin, so I think I'll make pumpkin pie. I don't have any dates left and I haven't soaked any nuts - so I guess it will be a smoothie or pudding instead of a pie. Ooh - I have some banana in the freezer so I could throw that in too.

oooh raspberry4 - that has been my staple the past two days. yum!

today i started with my latest obsession - ruby red grapefruits!

currently in the dehydrator are my bagels i made for lunch....they were improvised (as is everything in my kitchen!) -

sale on mixed sprouts, so i bought three small bags
leftover zucchini hummus
caraway seeds
dill
dash of curry
dash of sea salt

scoop onto tray, used a chopstick to make the hole, then popped them in the dehydrator.

made alissa's cream cheese (just macadamias and water) to spread on later

had to get up early to pass my national massage exam (yay!) and now i wait for the farmers market to open so i can get my hands on some fresh kale for more kale chips!!!

have a wonderful day everyone!!!

Today is our holiday party at work - the kitchen is filled with cookies, cakes, donuts, breads, etc. It all looks so gross! I'm so thankful that I am not putting any of that junk into my body.

I'm eating the most delicious satsuma oranges right now. Yum - they are so juicy!

I have a salad with me for lunch so I won't have to eat any of the party food. I also have some raw chocolate truffles - yum!

Last night I did not make the pumpkin pudding because the coconut was bad. Instead, I made a salad with green papaya, raw kelp noodles, carrots, celery, & broccoli. I made a dressing with apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, a little braggs, and tahini. I poured that over the salad and let it sit for maybe an hour before eating it. It was SO good! I'm excited to have the other half tonight.

food for today:

- 2 mangoes
- salad with mesclun, parsley, cilantro, clover sprouts, kelp, hemp seeds, raw olives, avocado, candy striped beets - delicious!
- 1 cupcake... a raw vegan take on the hostess cupcakes. i was inspired by shannon marie's 'fauxtess' recipe on rawdorable.blogspot.com. my take was a chocolate cake made of hemp, coconut and almond, and coconut icing - coconut for the creme inside and white squiggly, chocolate for the frosting on top.

i might have some kombucha or tea later on.

Good Morning all! I am up early. This seems to be the regular Saturday habit of my hubby and son going hunting (yuck) and I stay up when they leave, waiting for them to call and tell me they have arrived safely (they usually hunt about an hour away from home, so I worry just alittle, this is DS's first year hunting....and valuable father/son time)

Anyway, food plan for the day:
juice: grapefruit/apple/cranberries
GS: lots of spinach, coconut oil, blueberries, cherries, chia seed w/ red zinger tea....stevia.
Dinner: FAMILY CHRISTMAS PARTY!!!! I'm not taking anything.....ok. Maybe I'll take a great big green salad w/ red pepper slices, cucumber, onion slices...not sure what else. A great raw dressing (I think Alissa's will work just great!)

I'm done with trying to make something I think is great to take to family get togethers.....(I've shared traumatic strories of my family snickering "behind" my back...only for me to see them from across the room) just not worth it. I think I STILL might make some fudge....one of my favorite recipes, and take, but not even mention it to anyone.

That's it...everyone have a blessed day!!

Good morning everyone!

Wendi - sorry to hear of your previous experience. If you can't trust family to support you that is really tough. I hope it goes well for you tonight. Good luck!

I woke with a sore throat and stuffed up head. I feel so dizzy. Yuck! But I am still wishing everyone a great raw day today! I am in the mood for a large salad and ranch dressing - is one head of red leaf lettuce just for me too much? I don't think so! ;)

Have a wonderful day!

Raspberry--I hope you feel better=)

Wendi-- I know hunting is a touchy subject, but... Most people nowadays think meat comes from supermarkets. With these troubled ecomomic times upon us, I'd say learning how to provide food for himself and his family is valuable. Now, you need to teach him to plant and tend a garden=)>

As far as these snickering family members are concerned...I am really sorry you have to deal with that. Though cliche, I'm sure they are jealous of your ability to stick with your plan and eat healthy even with the _____ on the table. I hope you have a good time tonight to replace that memory with a nice one.

Here's my plan for today-
banana
spinach banana smoothie (my old favorite)
grapefruit juice
caramel apple (date paste hand rolled onto a dry apple, then rolled in nuts and lightly salted-from www.goneraw.com)
celery and guacamole
blackberry cheesecake (same cheesecake [ani phylos] with blackberries on top this time)

Be good!

I had an apple for breakfast
Spinach, Avocado, carrot, tomato salad for lunch
2 Apples while I watched my boyfriend eat subway (I dont keep a lot of SAD crap in my house, only "healthy" SAD for him, so I let him go to subway on the weekend! hahaha He NEVER gets Burger King!! so I go with "healthier" fast food!)
I had banana a little while ago.

Im thinking another salad like my lunch salad for dinner, OMG it was GOOD!!!

Question ? what brand Olive Oil do you use? and if I can't get it in the store, where can I? Also, is Bragg's ACV really raw? What ACV do you use?

Happy Monday! I hope everyone is staying warm and dry! It's been snowing here since Thursday, and they are forecasting snow, snow and more snow.

I ate way too many nuts & dried fruit this weekend. I'm totally bloated today from it. No more nuts for me for a few days.

This morning I have had two bananas and two apples. I'm looking longingly at my grapefruit at the moment...wishing it would magically cut itself open for me. I love grapefruit, but it's such a pain to prepare. Apparently I need to work on my patience. Also, because I have no patience waiting for my fruit to ripen. Yesterday I ate a pear and a persimmon that both needed another day or two to ripen. I just couldn't wait though - I wanted them right then. They were okay...edible, but no where near as delicious as they would have been, if I had waited a couple days.

last night I made a yummy greek salad. It had spinach, cucumbers, tomatoes, raw olives, and nut cheese. It was huge...I should have saved half for tonight, but it was so good that I ate it all.

This morning I made cranberry applesauce - basically just put one apple and a handful of cranberries in the blender with just a tiny bit of warm water. Yum! I'm going to the gym now, and then I think I will make some more when I get back.

Hello everyone!

Still with cold, but feeling better finally. My mom fell into the shower doors this morning and cracked her top plate and her mouth is all bruised and swollen. She has had all kinds of mishaps and problems since my dad passed in June, 2007. I feel so bad for her. But I thank God I have been able to help her as much as I have. I just wish she could have some peaceful times now and not so much trauma.

Anyway...I hope everyone is doing better than I am at this time. I am still hopefull and looking forward to better days.

I have such a taste for guacamole and corn chips. Will have to look for a corn chip recipe without flax seeds in it. Sounds yummy!

Have a great night all. :)

You can make wraps and fill them with all kinds of things (sliced/diced/shredded veggies, dips, dressing, pates), You could make collard chips (just make sure to marinade them for a while first) in the dehydrator, you could make green smoothies (I'm just thinking you would not use the stem and use less collard then you would say, spinach), and mix with banana and berries or pineapple and orange juice and such.

HTH! :D

Insomnia for weeks on end is taking its toll.

Today I made:

A quadruple batch of almond mylk
macaroons
And I'll be blending the cheeze to ferment overnight here shortly.

Tomorrow I will either be making raviolis or lasagna (there isn't agreement among the troops on that one yet though so I'm not sure).

I'm going to make banana bread tonight with the almond pulp for tomorrow's breakfast.

Hope everyone has a VERY Merry Christmas! :D

wow - the posting have been light lately! Hopefully everyone had a wonderful raw holiday :)

Yesterday I had a smoothie for breakfast - swiss chard, banana, blueberries, raspberries, and goji berries...super dose of antioxidants!
So good, I had the same thing for breakfast this morning.

Then for lunch I had a sandwich: life force "bread" with tahini, red cabbage, sunchokes, & grated carrots

We had x-mas dinner w/ my husband's family. I made sort of an asian style meal for myself. kelp noodles, red cabbage & grated carrots as the base, and then topped w/ bok choy & mushrooms that were marinated in braggs.

Everyone else was eating king crab legs, potatoes, and garlic bread. None of it appealed to me - I was so happy with my own food. I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't crave any of the bread :)

Oh - and TONS of cookies. His sister had made probably 10 different types of cookies. I pulled out the raw chocolate that I brought with me and didn't think twice about the cookies.

Overall a huge success!

That's cool RawChic that you didn't crave the bread. I too went yesterday even though I didn't eat hardly anything yesterday I didn't crave any of the meat/cheese that they had at my family's get together. It was great. I just enjoyed the evening/night with them for hours without thinking about food! I decided spending time with family is about family not eating! I've been such a social eater that it kind of depressed me when I went raw to eat differently. Now I'm finally becoming ok with it. :)

Today so far had some DATES-- SO good Calvaro dates I think..
Cucumbers/grape tomatoes with EVOO and ACV
Strawberries
not sure what else but I'll post later or tomorrow :)
I'm happy today. Had a great Christmas this year. Just being with family and having a new man friend.
Hope everyone had a great holiday this year.

Good morning all! I've missed posting!!!! I mean I really missed actually having the time to get online, but this holiday has been really busy. I had a dear uncle to pass away on Christmas eve night. He died of liver cancer:( I know he is better off now, and not suffering, but my aunt (who is not 60 yet, and I consider young) is left a widow and I really hate to think of her living alone now. With grown children (two boys, one of which lives out of town) I know she will now have to reevaluate what her life will be like. She still works, but my uncle had retired, and they were looking forward to her retiring next year:( I know God has a plan, and that is our only comfort.

Anyway, it has really brought back to my attention the importance of living a clean, raw life!!! I know that God did not intend for us to get cancer and these illnesses. I don't want to live forever, but I do want to die happily in my sleep, peacefully!

Today's food will be:
grapefruit/cranberry/apple juice/lemon
smoothie w/ spinach, tomato, garlic, basil, avo!!! YUMMY
dinner: carrot, spinach, apple juice

Not sure what else???

With the new year approaching, I feel like I'm heading for a fast!!! Not sure yet if I want to do the master cleanse again, or a juice fast?? Maybe I'll start with the 10 day master cleanse and then do a few days of juice feasting!!

Peace to all!

Today makes 2 years ago that I started my raw food journey! Crazy! It has been such a wild, amazing ride. I NEVER at the start of this all would have pictured the twists and turns my life would take just from making the choice to go raw. I am SO grateful I did! :D

So far, I've had a superfood shake. About to have a yummy salad with zata'ar dressing soon. Maybe some dried mango later? Not sure on that one yet or not.

Hope you all have a beautifully raw day! :D

wow - day 29! I can't believe the month is practically over.
I haven't posted in a couple days...I wish I had a good excuse. I was just plain lazy though.

No worries - I was eating lots of yummy raw food. Yesterday I made zucchini pasta w/ tomato sauce. I wish I had some leftover for dinner tonight, but it was so good that I ate it all.

This morning I had a mono-meal of bananas for breakfast. I ate four of them - I probably should have stopped at three, but oh well.

Now I'm having a salad of chard, apple & carrot with some dulse. It's really hitting the spot!

I'm not sure what I'm going to have for dinner. I might just stop by the juice bar on the way home and make that my dinner.

Last night I soaked almonds & oats so I'm going to make some cookies when I get home. Basically, just grind those and then mix w/ some dates. Maybe add in some cinnamon. I was also thinking I could make a "frosting" with coconut butter & cacao powder. hmm...I might just be having cookies for dinner :)
