hello,

I am going to try and eat just one meal a day for a while and see how i get on.
I think it will be great for my health, and after a little while will stop all the cravings for food i get every second of the day.

The question is =

What would you eat if you was only going to eat ONE meal a day ?
I want to make sure i am getting everything i need (minerals, aminos, e.t.c).

Neat! Curious to see how you make out...

If you want to make sure you get everything, then give yourself a variety of foods. Not necessarily all in Each meal, just Over Time. I think the Okinawans (most people per capita over 100) consume something like 500 different foods per year. This ensures you get what you need basically. The problem with grocery stores having All the foods at All the times of the year is actually a bad thing, cuz we just end up picking our favorite foods over and over instead of being forced to eat a greater variety.

Hope that helps!

i would make a superfood smoothie.

either a delicious plucky tropical fruity one

or a decadently rich cacao banana nut butter one....

i'd add:
green powder
fo-ti
dulse
bee pollen
cacao(even in the fruity one)
and any other superfoods you have!

I'd do a superfood smoothie with a side salad. (if I did just smoothies I might miss chewing after a while)

hmmmm. im not so sure you will be able to get everything you need on just one meal a day. arent there some vitamins that your body needs a more-constant supply of? it might have to be a huge meal...and arent there limits to how much of certain minerals your body can absorb at one time?....i think id advise a green smoothie fast before a "one meal a day" approach...seems like your energy and blood sugar might crash too.. but i dunno, just my thoughts.

so what else are you taking in? fresh juices for the rest of the day? some green smoothies? cause honestly... your body can't possibly process a big meal of EVERYTHING all at once.

i would start the day with a green smoothie
eat a healthy lunch of raw foods - whatever i desired at the time
and complete the day with fresh juices.

:D

If you are doing this to cut back on any cravings you have been experiencing you may have more cravings by depriving your body from the food it is used to getting.
Personally I would do a Green Smoothie Feast, that means drink the green goddess several times per day for awhile 14-30 days, most if not all of your cravings will go away in that time.

Ditto. You didn't ask but to me, it doesn't make sense to starve oneself to eliminate the craving for food.

Let us know how this works out for you.

[quote] all the cravings for food i get every second of the day [/unquote] Is this actually true? EVERY second of EVERY day?

What worked for me was eating said food I was craving to the point it made me sick. Cured!
I cured myself food by food, all the way to veganism, half raw so far doing this :)

Hello,

Yeah i do crave food all the time,
as soon as i start to eat i can just keep on eating even when im full, and i quite often do this.
Its the sugar in the foods that does this to me, im sure.
I know if i was eating just fats and protein i would feel satisfied all the time(i used to do this).

Ow and if i did manage to get sick of one food i would just move onto some other food, so that wouldn't work for me.

I think this type of fasting is very good for us anyway,
fasting increases our natural growth hormone which keeps us young and healthy - anti aging.

Also, for my one meal im going to try and have a starter and main so i can fit in more food, calories and nutrition.
So today i will start with melon and then i will prep my large kale salad with lots of nice fruit. And make sure i leave a 15 min gap inbetween the melon and salad, im sure it will take 10 mins to make the salad anyway.

Maybe you should try portion control. You should eat your meal and not eat anything until it is time to eat the next meal. You can train your Mind and your Body. My Best to you on your Journey.

I actually gained lots of weight by doing the one meal a day type of eating plan. Guess my body thought "oh no - I am never going to see another meal again so store, store, store." I obsessed even more about food when I only ate once a day.

I used to love pasta, sugary stuff etc. What cured me of it was doing a 10 day Master cleanse and bye, bye all cravings.

If I had to pick one thing to it would be lots of greens, maybe a fresh apple juice with some green food powder added to it.

Best of luck.

I also have these cravings, getting better with raw, but could use a little extra help.
what recipe do you use for the MC? I tried one from the internet, and it had so much cayenne, my mouth burned so much I couldn't drink anymore, even after I added more water, etc.

ocean, use less cayenne and slowly work up to more as time goes on. i couldn't use more than the tiniest pinch 15 months ago... now i pile cayenne on stuff LOL

paulie, you know your body... do what works for you but if it's not working for ya... perhaps re-visit this thread and read the advice... you've gotten some real good advice here.

a green smoothie feast is da bomb! it reaaaaaally packs you full of nutrition and keeps you full. you have sooo many varieties of smoothies (as your imagination is your limits) that you don't get bored of it. AND your body thanks you. hmmm... perhaps i'll do a short one before christmas *pondering*

You do move on to another food, that is true, the trick is to make it a healthier alternative. That's all really eating raw food is, replacing old favorites with new healthier versions or favorites.

Like I switched from Doritos and salsa and sour cream first to salsa and avocado. Then the Doritos to just plain tortilla chips. Then I got a penchant for melting cheese on my tortilla chips, now I'm done with cheese again, thanks to a refocus on avocado. I still eat hummus as a cheese replacement. One day I will learn to make my own. I'm still working on learning spices better too, and I know that once I become a better chef I will be able to kick store-bought hummus and ezekiel bread, etc.
I finally kicked chocolate by eating other sweets instead and then switching to just fruit. Switching to raw chocolate wasn't working for me, it wasn't 'good' enough when I made it, too expensive to ship to Canada, vegan store-bought ones weren't good enough either..believe me, I tried. In the end I decided chocolate and I need a full blown break from each other, lol...possibly forever. But, once I know I'm eating healthy, I might put some cacao in a smoothie or something. ..just right now, it'd be a trigger to binge on chocolate the next day I think.

Point is, you might find this to be much more of a journey than you thought. The one meal a day thing can absolutely work. I did this for Years with success, kept slim, felt great. I had a small soup and some crackers for lunch, but it really was a puney amount of food. And One supper..no dessert usually. But, I also developed a binging problem whenever I found out I was pregnant....yay! I get to eat breakfast...and lunch...and supper...and dessert...and evening snacks... Like all those things I had deprived myself of, and missed for soooo long, I was finally allowed to have...and I did so with abundance. So, this working would HAVE to involve feeling happy and positive about it, not sad or deprived.

Anyways, I think it can be done if you're in the right frame of mind for it...but a lot of people do better with taking the 'harder, longer road' of learning portion control and substituting unhealthy favorites for healthy ones.
