Hey guys found a new grinder!!
I went with my friend from India to buy a wet/dry grinder at an indian store here in San Jose, CA area. She bought a Revel grinder that chops nuts, herbs, coffee beans, seeds for the dry grinding, and things like cilantro, garlic, fresh herbs, ginger, onion, peanut butter (imagine one could do almond butter) and chutneys for the wet grinding. It is like a coffee grinder, but also grinds wet stuff.
Anyway, I, also, bought one for about $29.00. It is about 280 watts with a strong motor. Unlike a coffee grinder, you use this in short bursts. Today, I ground up some almonds into flour with one burst (hold down for 5 seconds) I divided up the flour and left some in the grinder and did about 5-6 more 5 second bursts. You can only grind in maximum 5 second bursts, then have to wait about 5 seconds to grind again. It was more moist like almond butter, but not as wet as the one in the store (maybe I need to add a little water?). I was really excited, because sometimes I just want to grind a small amount of something and this really chops it up finer than my food processor does (I don't have a cuisinart) so my food processor doesn't break up vegetables very fine. I need to experiment with it some more, but I also tried a carrot, and it ground it up to a pulp, where I could probably use it in making crackers or something. If any of you have any Indian stores near you, you might see if they have one, or of course online. I think there is a website called www.bombaylimited.com It's a nice grinder that doesn't cost too much $$$$$. just make sure it is the 120 volt grinder and not the 220 volt (unless you live in England)
As I use it more, I will keep you posted on what all it can do!
