Isnt she great! I know she's really busy, (i could hear her other phone ringing off the hook in the background but when i called to order products last week Alissa took the time to talk to me about my illness and what i needed to change and got me so pumped up about going raw! I told her I couldnt afford a consultation and would call her when I can but then after we spoke i offered to pay her since she spent about 20 minutes, maybe longer, on the phone with me but she told me that my doing this diet and seeing results will be all the payment she needed from me. she is a blessing and one of the nicest people i have ever talked to.

Me too everyone!
Alissa,
I just received your package today too (a few minutes ago) and appreciate it so much! :) I was so in shock when I got it that the mailman asked if I was okay. Your gesture is more than kind and heartfelt. :)
You have no idea how unreal it feels to have spent all these months on the boards, reading recipes, seeing your pictures and daydreaming about making alot of these recipe and to actually have it in the REAL thing. I'm like freaking out---I'm so in shock that I can't even look at it right now---my sis is thumbing thru the book in awe! :p
I'm tickled inside looking at you on the tomatoe and I've seen this a gazillion times here!!!!!!!!!
.........okay, now I know what everyone is raving about----the book is ultra user friendly and simple yet filled with tons of recipes. The hard part is deciding what to make first: crepes, pizza, ice cream, cheese, banan butter berry pie, cinnamon rolls, curry, chutney!!!
What? Cannolis????????--I grew up on that stuff
"I Love you Alissa!!!!"
Muahhhhhhhhhhhhh,

HaPpy hApPy HaPpY :) ;) :D :p :)
I didn't even realize how big a DURIAN was until I saw the book!
Alissa, now i know what you mean when you talked about living in Italy and doing sculptures--pg 105 I love that photo! :) Can you tell us about pg 151 and what's drink that is and what kind of cup that is?
The reference guide is really helpful in the back with the websites, cookbooks, restaurants by state etc. It's funny but when I think of cookbooks, I always invision the TMI "Joy of Cooking" in small print and getting stuff all over it! Your book is VERY reading & user friendly........my raw approach just improved 200% after seeing and readingyour book/cookbook.
I've recruited a friend into raw and his eyes grew big when I told him I had the "Holy Grail :D " Now, he wants me to come over and prepare rawfood dishes for him.
So Excited,

I loved the Jaccuzzi pic too. I was green with envy when I saw it the first day I got my book. So I made a smoothie in an old plastic texaco cup, wiggled my fat butt into my bathing suit and sat on the back porch with my feet in a bucket of water and the hose spraying on me.
Not quite the same thing.

You dont have to love coconuts to love the coconut milk in a Thai baby coconut.
I have only been able to find thai coconuts once, way in the boondocks of Montana much to my excitement. I couldnt believe how delicious the milk was...how different from a common coconut. YUM!!
:D

Carmella, I didn't realize that Thai coconut milk differed from other coconuts---can I ask how?
This is a great quote on pg 13 in Alissa's book

Sweet Goddess-- got to ask -- where in " way in the boondocks of Montana" did you find that coconut???? I'n in the boonies and have never even seen a young coconut. And most of the old ones I buy are way too old and have to be trashed.
I was quite surprised to see what young cocoanuts actually looked like while viewing the DVD as Allisa was cutting one open (scarey cutting that in her hand -- I'd of managed to find blood, if I attempted to cut it open like that).
I too loved the book and DVD! And am anxious to try more receipes. Gotta get a dehydrator!!!

I buy them by the case (Thai young coconuts) and have at least one a day. That's how I start my day. I drink the coconut water with a straw, then wake my neighbors up by taking the coco into my backyard, laying it on the patio, and whacking it with a big machete so I can get at the insides better rather than trying to scoop it out through the top hole.
Michael, don't let any ambivalence about regular coconuts stop you from trying one of these -- they're really different. And, incredibly good for you. Replaces electrolytes, antifungal, antibacterial plus all the goodies we get from coconut oil.
Yummy!! Too bad I've already decided to have ice cream right now .... :D
p.s. I know this is lovefest for Alissa that I barged into, so, lest you think me an interloper, here goes: Alissa, you're just the best!!

BDRaw, I found thai coconuts at a grocerystore we have here called SuperOne. I nearly fell over when I saw them. You would have thought I had just spotted Viggo Mortenson, haha. :p
I love regular coconuts and was so surprised at how much better the milk was in the thai ones. I prefer the meat of the regular ones, but the milk of the thai ones.
MissLInda~I am stumped on trying to explain how it is different. It just is. I know you can find them in Seattle! Down in the port orchard, bremerton area I could not find them anywhere, even the asian markets.
RawTruth~can I ask what you pay for a case?
Blessings~
oh, I love Alissa too! :D

How much does Alissa charge for consultations, anyone know? Alissa? :)Go to the home page (at top left of this page where it says Alissa Cohen), then choose the avocado from the fruits & veggie circle dance that you'll see there.
RawTruth~can I ask what you pay for a case?$9 a case -- what a deal, huh?
Alright peoples, Thai coconuts is not the same thing as the brand "Tahi coconut" that you see at the gorcery store in the asian food aisle???Don't know what that is, kiddo. You can do an internet search to find pictures of them and then compare to what you see in your store. They're in the produce department. I'm sure, if there are Asian markets near you, that you can find some. Also, every raw restaurant I've been to offers them on the menu, so maybe you can visit one and act like a tourist!

RT~ $9.00 , is this correct? How many are in a case then? How did you work that out, through a co-op?
ah, bless california, even though half the state of california now seems to have moved to montana~!!!

Umm ... yep, it's $9 at Asian grocery stores in Westminster (which is officially called Little Saigon) and Fountain Valley, two towns in Orange County just 20 minutes from me. When I was in Northern California a few months ago, though, I was told that a case was $9 there -- again, from Asian markets. That guy got his in Oakland. You just talk to the store owner or produce manager and ask for a case. Most of them are still making money selling them at that price. Amazing, isn't it? They run from $1.50 to $2.40 (opened) in the five raw restaurants I've visited in Southern California. Two of those would only serve the coconut water in a glass without the whole coconut. The others serve it whole, which is what I prefer, since I love eating the custardy/firm insides with a spoon. (It's what helped heal my candida and other intestinal woes, but that's another story.)

Okay I just saw pictures of those critters.
I might have to be cheap  and ask my mother's friend, who owns one of the largest asian markets, to sell them at wholesale to me--this is driving me crazy! :p ;) :D :)

You might consider figuring out a way to try one before you do all this finagling. That way, you'll know whether you like it or not. Though it's inconceivable to me, there are people who don't care for them.
