This is my first try at a non-fruit green smoothie - as my Hawaii friend says these are really cool too - she's an amazing acupuncturist/healer/Ashtanga yoga teacher. She told me about these veggie ones a little while ago, but this is the first I actually tried it out. Anyhow, I blended up the following:
- a bunch of left-over yellow cherry tomatoes
- one roma tomato
- half of a left over avocado
- some basil leaves
- a big old handful of spinach
- a big old handful of parsley
- two tablespoons of chia seeds that were soaking in a glass of water in the fridge
- juice of half a lemon(could maybe add the whole lemon's juice the next time)
- a smidge of salt+pepper
Man - this is GOOD! I'm slurping down on this as a post-cardio dinner!(went to my gym earlier for a good cardio session featuring a bunch of intervals). I'm going to have to look into these further, like blended salads, another way of looking at it. I just read over on another site about green smoothies that Ann Wigmore sort of pioneered things like this aka "energy soup" that was a particular blend of stuff that was supposed to be amazing as far as how it makes you feel.
RAW ROCKS!
