I'm making Alissa's Noasted Turkey recipe, Mesquite BBQ Sauce, Rosemary Mashed "Potatoes", Miss Hamlin's Cranberry Sauce (Alissa's book), Alissa's Applesauce, Sweet Potato Fries, Green Bean Casserole, Barfi (Indian dessert), Fudge, and Ani Phyo's Apple Pie. Yes, it's ALL Raw. :) I plan on taking lots of pictures and I'll post. We're actually having this raw meal Wednesday and then Thursday I'll bring leftovers to the inlaws house for myself while they enjoy their SAD dinner. I'm making them a cooked pumpkin pie though (vegan) for my husband and our daughter to have there too.

I am making Sunflower Lord's mushroom tarts, my own version of cilantrol/nut/pesto w/flax crackers and Ani Phyo's Butternut/Cranberry "rice", kale chips, and sauerkraut/cheeze nori wraps. And my Butternut/Hazelnut/Raisin cake.

I'm going to my cousin's that have a huge spread of SAD/CRAP foods. I will bring enough so that whoever wants can taste it.

Sadly my cousin and her husband are huge and eat horribly. They both have health issues and think I'm the odd one. Oh well...odd I'll be then...:p

I'm not sure.
I usually make a big spread but I was in Whole Foods yesterday just gettin' regular ol' kale and avocados and stuff, and it was soooooooo insane and stressy in there I decided not to go back until AFTER Thanksgiving, which would mean I don't have the stuff to make a big spread.
Maybe I will brave WFM again and bust out a big Thanksgiving meal... *sigh*

Alissa's noasted turkey is really, really good and there is a recipe floating around somewhere for jicama mashed 'taters. Haven't tried it, but heard it's very good. Although I do like Alissa's mashed 'taters. I usually drain them in a nut bag...and the portabello gravy - WOW ZERS!!!!!!!!!

I think this came from Raine.

Rosemary-Garlic Mashed Potatoes

4 cups peeled and chopped jicama
2 cups cashews, soaked 1-2 hours
1 t salt
1-2 t chopped fresh rosemary
1 t minced garlic
2 t nutritional yeast
Black Pepper to taste

Process jicama in food processor until grain-like consistency is reached. Press out excess liquid with a cheesecloth or through a sieve. Blend with remaining ingredients until well combined. Warm in dehydrator until ready to serve.

We are having a friend over we often invite for the holidays. He has suffered from several bouts of brain tumors and the last set of chemo left him with some mental issues. He lost all his barriers to his abusive childhood and started having memories and then severe blackouts, where he became irrational and ended up in the hospital several times. It was sad because he was incredibly fit, with many medals for speed walking and racing. ONly his amazing attitude has kept him going- he is a fighter and a really radient soul. We will get him today and he will stay til Saturday, playing board games and jamming with my hubby in the music studio, and watching movies, of course.

I wish I had known more when he had the second set of tumors- we could have tried diet. He is amazed at my changes and loves to eat that way, but since he lives only a disability check away from being homeless, he eats what he can get. Sometimes I take him a bunch of apples or herbs or even soup- anything homemade from my kitchen, even cooked, is better than he is going to get anywhere else=)

My DH is switching from turkey to fish this year, so we are having a really healthy cooked dinner, with wild rice, etc. So far all the apptizers are raw- I have made 3 kinds of crackers and several kinds of flavored nuts. We will make a veggie tray and some hummus and salsa. Before dinner we are going to have some spicy raw Pad Thai. Desserts after dinner are raw too- several kinds of ice cream, chocolate chip cookies, macroons, truffles, chocolate, my raw nut candy and goji bars, and maybe a pie.

woo hoo!:D I love the excuse of time off and holiday to play in the kitchen:D

I have Kale chips in the dehydrator now. I'm also going to make Cranberry sauce (either Living in the RAW or Alissa's), Yummy Apple cobbler (The Raw Table), Grezzo Chocolate Fudge cake, Vanilla Ice Cream, Onion Bread (with Avocado, tomato, lettuce, sprouts), Rosemary Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Mushroom gravy (Alissa's)

There are so many things that I want to eat!!! Especially desserts!!

Happy RAW Thanksgiving everyone!!!!

debilana,

Thanks for that. Reminds me that it's attitude and love for others that can be more healing than food alone. A healthy body does not equal a healthy soul.

pretty soon after I typed that earlier, our friend called and said he cannot come- he suffered a mild stroke last night and has to stay in his crappy little apartment under observation for the next 5 days or so. He is doing ok- it was not a bad one- but given his history, they are afraid to let him go anywhere=(

so Thanksgiving we will take him a meal and hang out , but really, this is the suck. bleh:( I feel so bad for our friend, he just cant catch a break:mad:

Is he at all interested in RAW?

yes, and he does the best he can- but he lives on very little money, and I think he gets food bank stuff. He eats really well compared to most folks in his position, and I know he eats as much raw produce as he can afford=)

Praying for your friend, Debilana, so lucky to have you for a friend.

I'm making sweet potato fries and jicama fries, I have onion rings in the dehydrator, my first time using the dehydrator. :::eeek::: I'm ok with fruit, smoothies and salads, but uncook recipes intimidate me.

I'm making a Mexican cabbage salad in the morning and a garden salad. I might pick up a vegi tray later too.

For my grown kids who are coming to town, I'm cooking their traditional favorites.

My fries tested my patience, my fry cutter broke, only the second time using it, and the blades just didn't want to cut, one of the blades finally just broke out.

It's a cutter I bought locally.

I decided to grab the kids and come hang out with my family in the country for their SAD Thanksgiving.
I brought my Vitamix and Excalibur with me. :D
We're having noasted turkey, asparagus, spinach, broccoli in cheddar sauce, Alissa's crepes, and pecan pie. Whee!

Happy Thanksgiving, y'all!
