I would like to know if anyone knows how long I should keep nutritional yeast? I have it in the refrigerator.

I would also like to know if nutritional yeast is poisionest for young children. she has eaten some before, months and months ago.

If so, how much could affect her?

If I use one or two tablespoons per recipe should this amont be ok for my 23 month baby?

I want to try and make the cheese recipe that was posted on here the other day.

I don't have a 23 month old anymore, but I use nutritional yeast about 2-4 times a month. For a while, I used it more often, but my taste buds have changed some. My three kids, love it in sauces.

Anyways, I don't anticipate any problem with a 23 month old child.

Hope this helps.

I did not know that there were some drawbacks to nutritional yeast consumption when I first went vegan: I can eat a LOT of this stuff; I like it quite a bit :)

I limit my intake to the two tablespoons-at-a-time recommended.
Personally, I wouldn't give nutritional yeast to children under 10 or maybe older...but only you can make the decision for you and yours.

Here is what Joanne Stepaniak says about it; no mention of children, unfortunately. You could email her and ask; she's very good at replying: http://www.vegsource.com/jo/qa/qanyeast.htm
