I can't seem to get enough of them. I think they are high in potassium (not sure). I eat them nearly every day. Sometimes I fear that they may be hampering my weight loss efforts, but I feel so good when I eat them I really don't care.

Does anybody else have an avocado addiction?

Maybe I should change my screen name to something like Anna Avo.:p

I have been eating 1-2 a day!:eek: They are my fav! I can't eat nuts and seeds so its my only fat source! ... I am losing weight ...and I dont even want to! Im new, so I think im at that stage where im going to lose a lot of weight against my will.

at 5'7 140lbs I hope I dont lose too much.

They've got ALL the essential amino acids, including Omegas 3 and 6, have good fat, and are high in potassium. I crave the Omegas :)

I adore them, too. Family and friends claim I put them in about everything. Even pre-raw I ate a lot of them. I do go in spurts where I'll have them daily for weeks on end then off for a week or so.

Favorites are Fuerte and Reed (getting huge ones at the Farmers' market the last couple weeks).

Of course my dog loves them in her food, too:).

For a few months a couple of years ago I was averaging TEN a day. It was an expensive habit. I still have atleast one most days. Love 'em.

I eat about 1 a day. I'm more of a banana whore now.

I love them, and eat at least 1 or 2 a day, in salads, smoothies, sometimes just plain w/ a little lemon or lime juice.

I have yet to get used to avocados, the taste and texture...I never used to eat these things at all!

Two avocado recipes that are sure to please:
Avocado pudding
1 ripe banana
1 ripe avocado
1/4 cup water
1-2 tbs. carob or cacao powder
1 tbs. raw sweetener, or a date
Blend all ingredients until smooth

Vanilla shake
1 cup ice cold nut milk
1 ripe avocado
the seeds from a vanilla bean, or vanilla extract
a tiny pinch of salt
1/2 cup raisins
Blend all ingredients until smooth. This makes a very thick, rich, and filling shake. Make sure you use a high speed blender, such as a vitamix, in order to liquify the raisins.

I don't really like avocado in sweet recipes, but I LOVE it in savory recipes! Guacamole, mashed avocado on its own as a mayo replacement, in salads, on its own... YUM! Spread over flax crackers... Mmm now I am craving avocados.

I went through that phase. I could NOT get enough of them. AND it was this time of year, when the cold weather was starting to settle in. In the summer months I really didn't crave them like this...

I love avocados. I haven't had them in a looooooonnnnnng time, due to the expense, due to the excessive food miles, but right now I really want one.

I absolutely love avocados. I have 1/2-1 of one in my salads everyday. They are delish.

I used them to texture my GS's and to make my FAVORITE banana pudding recipe. :D

I used to eat them by the fistfuls just raw or sliced into nori rolls, etc... these days, though, I'm not craving them so much anymore. I was totally into "stuffed mushrooms" where avacado was the primary ingredient a few weeks ago, but got sick (too rich, most likely, in combination with the meaty mushroom) and haven't craved them since.

Ah avocados, one of my favourite foods!

I have maybe one a day, depending on the availability, I try and get them at markets where they are cheaper.

I have my old faithful salad which I should be COMPLETELY bored with now but aren't: 1 avocado, tomatoes, onion, green leafys, maybe purple cabbage, some kind of salad dressing, sit on the couch after day of work.. enjoy.

I am right there with you- I have to force myself to eat them, then they give me a stomach ache.

I don't mind them too much in a cholate pudding type setting though.

I just put a half of an avocado into my latest nut pate. Oh my word, delicious! Why had I never thought of avos in pate before? lol

before raw ide never tasted one :eek: , then i made gauc with lime juice , parsley and cumin and it was :)

but now i like them plain in salads

i love them.... eat 1 a day or so. i ate more when i was in TX can't beat .25 each. :eek: it was in the summer so i guess they where in season. i ate them when i was not raw. but not as often

I love avacado's made into choc/carob mousse....then I slice up a banana, maybe add a few nuts and put a dollop of the mousse on it....yum! It's a great way to use an avacado that is still good but doesn't look too pretty anymore.

LOVE 'EM! I eat about 2-3 per week, cutting them in half, so half an avocado is a day's allotment, which is fine for me. I like just mashing the half up while it is still in its skin, with finely-minced jalapeno, salt, pepper, and lemon/lime juice. Then this goes on top of my red pepper-sesame seed dehdrator crackers, and a big old heap of greens with lemon juice on them. Can I say it's heaven? Or, if I don't have the crackers, the avocado mixture gets mixed into the salad. Kale salad with avocado squished throughout.

Advocado's are the best.

Avocados are the food of the gods. However, I think you have to be careful not to eat too much fat, even if it is good fat. Personally, I limit avocado intake to 1 per day, and less if I eat other fat such as nuts and seeds. But, we are all different, so whatever is working for you is best.

I eat several everyday all year long and I stay slim. I think part of the reason I don't get fat is that I don't eat any nuts and only some of the seeds that come through my kitchen in the foods I eat. Also I eat only fresh raw foods with as little oxidation as possible. Everybody finds what works for them and this works for me.

My favorite use for Avo's is an avo/mango/strawberry salad I was served at a very fancy restaurant & I told the chef to create something raw for me. Topped with a dressing of macadamia nuts mixed w/mango and drizzled all over.....I can usually eat two big bursting plates of it! Soooo yummy....

I love them in guaccamole. - 2 avocados - celery, onions , red peppers. 1 lime juice, cayenne pepper, sea salt. (sometimes I will add either mango or kiwi to make it a little sweet) put it in my food processor. and YUMMMM. ttyl. Suzy
