I grew up Jewish in NY home of the greatest potato knishes from Knish Nosh. You can google them.

Now I figure many don't have a challenge today so passing mine on so we can unite with the best raw knish. Maybe Alissa has some thougths too.

It would be potatoes, let's imagine, salt/pepper/onions...not sure if garlic there...bet it can be dehydrated too...so for raw...maybe parsnip which never had...cauliflower, flax oil, flax seeds, golden, salt and cayenne or some zing...

Anyone up for the challenge? I'm headed to TX next week so without a dehydrator I'm putting the ball in your court. Thanks for your help or thoughts. I remember way back Jackie and Gideon had a recipe but either didn't sound right or made and didn't love.

Hey Carol..mmm knishes..a girl after my own heart. I live in Brooklyn, and we had mrs stahls famous knishes.

okay so I remember seeing a post somewhere where a woman also was missing her knish and tried to make something using coconut meat pulp dehydrated mixed with blueberries and made into like a fruit leather wrap and then filled it with a macadamia ricotta cheese filling, kind of like a blueberry cheese knish.
not sure of the exact measurements she used but I do remember this because I figured I would love to try and attempt it one day,lol
hope this gives you some ideas

I on the other hand would love a raw of course kasha or cabbage knish right now with mustard, lol

Jen,
Thanks for links. I don't remember seeing anything similar at Russell James site. I need to challenge Carmella then at her site.

Kirby,
A man after my own heart. Flashback memories as we are moved out here 30+ years now. I was back to NY about 2 years ago and did end up bringing back a dozen knishes. You can also order them online, but I must say super back return calls and can't get any response. The only knishes I had were Knish Nosh due to ignorance I suppose.

I never remember Kasha or cabbage knishes. Maybe they came around after I left NY.

I make a whipping "kosher" like kraut just like the kind that used to come out of the can but better and great "kosher" pickles using Boutenko recipe she shared and I posted. Has garlic in it...yum. My raw friends here love it.

Okay, off to dream about knishes while sleeping. Joz posted a knish recipe from last year's request and never saw that till now.

I remember also the fabulous Italian bakeries we went to. I met hubby at Roseland ballroom dance.

Brooklyn has some raw places? I know NY is active with groups and gatherings. Thanks for sharing.

Zeye ga sint (yiddish),
Be well means to me....
