Hey all, I just accidentally made a raw version of chop suey that's surprisingly like sad. I was just making some marinated veggies and this was the result.
Add or subtract item portions to your taste...
handful of bean sprouts
2 zucchini diced (about 1/4 - 1/2" cubes)
1/2 large onion (cut into about 1/4" slices, then cut eat slice into quarters)
1/2 red pepper, minced
1/2 small head green cabbage, sliced & diced into about 1" long strips
(I put the sauce on at this point, but I'd suggest mixing this and letting it sit a couple hours, then draining off any excess water. I did not and it watered down the sauce so that I ended up dumping it off and adding fresh sauce)
Sauce:
1/4 cup agave
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup braggs
garlic
I found this to be better the next day because the veggies softened up, more like tradtional chop suey.
Credit for the sauce goes to someone on this board that I cannot remember. It's a great veggie marinade and seems it would be good as a salad dressing, though I've not tried that yet.
Oooh, now I'm dreaming of a raw Kung Pao Chicken, sans chicken. Same sauce, add some chili powder or cayenne, some raw peanuts, zucchini...what else is in sad kung pao??
