Im getting one on Friday!!! I wanted a juicer and was originally going to go for a Hamilton Beach Big Mouth but I did a lot of research and decided I need to get a masticating one instead. I really want it for health reasons and I think the Omega is the way to go.
Im excited!!!!! Anyone else have an Omega?

dont have but over the past 4 years ive read at alot of raw sites and confered with alot of juicers whom rate the omega very very high . i was gonna buy an omega / sampson / green star , the 3 top rated masticators from my reading . and a few years ago my local produce store manager asked me which juicer and i told him omega or sampson (greenstar eliminated cuz of high cost) , well he got an omega (i told him the silver one because white shows juice stains in cracks and crevices more) and REALLY likes it .

Years ago I bought an Omega and have used it, used it, used it and love it. Easy to clean and really operates nicely!

The auger that comes with it tends to grind away. They have since fixed the problem and replaced the auger but make sure to inspect it and there should be NO grinding plastic sound. I got the 8005 just silver. Once I received the new auger it is by far my favorite peace of machinery.

I love my Omega 8003. I have had several different juicers over the years, all the way from a $25 juicer to a $2,295 model. The Omega is the best, BECAUSE I USE IT ALL THE TIME. The best juicer won't be any good, if it's too complicated to use or too difficult to clean. I use my juicer every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. I also use it to make nut butter and smoosh sprouted wheat or rye berries for use in crackers and breads. I'm sure there are lots of uses I haven't come up with yet. Have fun with your new juicer. BTW, I think the white one is great, no finger prints. Wipes clean with a damp cloth or sponge.

I love it and I am so glad that I went with the Omega. The pulp is VERY dry. Does anyone have any ideas about what to do with all the leftover pulp?
I also made frozen banana ice cream and it is really good!

My worms eat my pulp. They make great wormcastings for me.

I LOOOOOOVE MY OMEGA 8005! I did have to have my auger replaced because it did chip, but the company was EXTREMELY happy to replace it. I use it very often for juice, ice cream and pates!! I use it alot BECAUSE it is so easy to use and clean! I don't have time to scrub and clean a juicer after I've used it! You will love it.....I've NEVER regretted the $$$ I spent on my juicer!

When I juice my carrots, I juice them seperately and save the pulp for CARROT CAKE!!:D

tvillemom- Do you know where I can find a recipe for carrot cake made from carrot pulp? I would LOVE to make that (I have been juicing a lot of carrots so I have a lot of leftover pulp)

I have had mine for 2 years and am very happy with it. Got it for $189 on eBay.
Easy to clean and leaves a dry pulp. Get one!

Yes, be very careful about that. The Omega 8000 series juicer's auger is made of melamine and it seems 9 out of 10 people I asked said their auger is grinding itself up leaving melamine powder in the juice and/or pulp. With all the news about melamine contaminated foods it's clear this is a very dangerous chemical. I hope they really did fix the problem with the new auger.

I bought my juicer sometime in September and I don't have that problem with mine.

I have an Omega and am not a fan, but just looked up the model and realized why....mine is the 1000 model....so I'll look to upgrade since everyone seems to love this juicer!:)

I just got mine this week on Monday, so hopefully they did get the auger taken care of. I will keep my eye on it when I clean it each time.
The cleaning is so simple and this makes it usable multiple times a day.
I have a clean towel on counter and rinse the parts and sometimes use the little brush it came with to clean the screen the rest I use a drop of detergent and a bottle brush, rinse and drain on towel. Quick assembly and quick clean makes it fun to try new things.

I highly recommend the Green Star, it extracts 30% more juice and 100% more nutrients than the Omega so the price difference pays for itself, plus you don't risk having deadly melamine in the juice and/or pulp.

I haven't tested the two together but I find it hard to believe that you could get 30% more juice than I got today. The pulp was VERY dry.
The melamine is another story and I will watch closely to make sure bits are not being ground off!

No worries. The new plunger/pusher is designed in a way that it does not reach to the grinder. I got mine about 3 months ago and have never had a problem with it. I use it at least once a day and sometimes several times. The 30% thing is not true. I had a $2,300 Norwalk juicer that I sold. It has a grinder and a hydraulic press, which is very powerful and gets the very last bit of liquid out of the pulp. The pulp comes out in a solid sheet. I may have gotten a better quality juice, but at most 10% more than with the Omega.

Does this mean that they have improved / fixed the tan auger so it doesn't chip away or do you mean that the black auger is the new fix?
How did you get the new black auger. I gave them a call and they said I would have to pay 40 bucks for it. I want the omega 8003, but don't want to pay for a functional auger. They also mentioned that the 8005 model ships with the black auger, which made me wonder if only 8005's shipped from Omega include this black auger.

Hi Emma!
I was just wondering if the high-end juicer you referred to having bought for $2K + was a Norwalk Press? I have read pretty much everywhere that it is the best juicer out there due to its triturating action and hydraulic press, with the only drawback being the prohibitive price. I've had it in the back of my mind for a few years now as something I could save up for if it's as good as they say, but if you had one and weren't happy with it I'd be grateful for details as to what you didn't like about it.
Thank you!
Lyn
this is probably the best on the market for the price. The only other one I would have considered would have been the Omega vert HD, but for the money and what it can do the 8003 will do the same for about half the money. This juicer is great because it can do whet grass as well as carrots, oranges, grapefruit etc.

I've had my 8003 for 3 years and use it almost daily when at home. Never a problem. I use the Omega O2 as a travel juicer when I'm on the road on business, also an excellent little centrifugal juicer.
I've been juicing for more than 30 years, the only crappy juicer I ever had was a "LaLanne" juicer I bought on the road one time. Gave it away within a month! I still own a Champion, couple of Acme juicers, a L'Equip, a Moline, and a Breville. The 8003 gets the most use.
