I just made a huge batch of Alissa's chili. I changed up a few ingredients, and did it with sprouted barley and sprouted lentils.

OMG.

Alissa, you are a GENIUS.

This stuff is incredible. And tastes better than any chili I had when I was SAD.

Thanks, gorgeous raw angel!

I pulled out my copy of Alissa's cookbook to make the chili. My book says that the recipe calls for a 1/2 Cup of Chili powder. Is this correct? It sure seems like alot of chili powder!!

Thanks,
Grace

Yep, that's correct. But half a cup (measuring cup) is not really a awful lot and not only that, but you have to realize that the recipe makes a LOT of chili! So it does work out.

Now, I also realize that 1/2 c. chili powder seems like a lot when you buy the bottles of chili powder...but if any of your local stores or food co ops or natural food stores have bulk seasonings, then it is not costly at all to get your spices and seasonings that way.

WARNING: Just be sure you are using chili powder and not chili peppers or cayenne pepper. I've seen a few times where people have posted that they got mixed up and ended using 1/2 c. of HOT cayenne pepper!

But yeah, Alissa's chili is the BOMB! It's ESPECIALLY good when you have a bowl of it and top with a dollop or two or three of her onion dip!!!

I held back on the chili powder, and used a combo of chipotle powder, raw jalapeno and chili. I'm a wimp, but it still has some kaPOW!
