I don't know if I have posted this in the right place or not but I would like to know what you guys think that this is on my spinach. It came out of a box of fresh, organic spinach. I am now terrified to eat it.

Worm pooh?
Heck, I dunno. Does it wash off? If not, I'd go back to where I got it from and ask them.

yeah if it washes off, id just wash it off. i frequently find slug poo, bug poo, etc on the stuff from my garden. aphid eggs i usually find on the BACK sides of kale leaves, etc, and they are usually gray. if i find aphid eggs i would return it as they dont wash off easily. but yeah, if whatever this is washes off, id just wash it well. if it doesnt, then yeah, id take it back.

It definately looks like eggs of some sort unless it washes off. Good Luck!

no it doesn't wash off and the package said that the spinach had already been washed three times. I tried to wash and wipe it off and it won't come off. I mashed one of the little things and clear water like stuff came out of it.

Ugh, don't eat it. There's no telling what that is... Unless you're brave, like David Wolfe, who just eats the insects along with the greens. :)

This was my first thought. They look like aphids but, could be eggs. If they don't wash off - take it back where you bought it. I wouldn't eat it, myself.

Okay, I want to know the same thing. I googled it and it pulled up a bunch of stuff about cannabis. :) LOL... If that was a joke, it went way over my head.

yeah I want to know what that word means too.
Oh yeah, I'm not eating this stuff, there is no way lol.
Now I looked up what aphids are and these things aren't moving so I don't think that they are bugs. My vote is that they are eggs of some sort and I don't want any intestinal parasites. Just looking at it makes my skin crawl.

Definitely take it back. Looks like eggs, but I don't know what kind.

Wikipedia called it a cannabis that something about organic leaves when the male is removed from the female and they aren't fertile or something? Is that right?

LOL...I can definitely understand being creeped out by that! But let me creep you out a little bit more OR...maybe it will ease your mind a bit if you see how commonly we all consume and/or have consumed tiny critter eggs.
Have you ever wondered how gnats just "end up" in your home when fruit is around in the warmer months/temps?
Have you ever seen or felt tiny little "bumps" in the skin of plums and other fruit? Gnats lay eggs in the skin of some soft-skinned fruit but also in the leaves and stems.

hey, since it doesnt wash off, in that case i probably WOULD take those back. However, just to "un-creep you out" about parasites, Im pretty sure most parasite eggs arent something you can see (too small), and youre unlikely to get parasites from something like visible eggs on a plant because they were likely laid by a regular bug and your tummy will just digest them. thats not to say that you cant get parasites from veggies--you certainly can if they were grown on contaminated soil or washed in/watered by contaminated water. But in my book, any eggs you can SEE are probably not harmful. Ive seen weird bumpy stuff similar to your pick on some of my leafy greens that doesnt wash off and seems to be part of the plant. i dont worry about it if its on stuff in my own garden because I know "where my garden has been," or in the case of a farmers market where I can ask the farmer directly about something...but to find something unidentifiable/weird on something from the store, yeah, Id probably want to take it back. unless sinsemilla is some sort of a harmless plant growth.... but noone really seems to be able to find a def for it...

Yeah I knew about the little fruit flies and I they tick me off too lol.
I usually peel all of my stuff and I really inspect my lettuce, if I find anything on there, I tear it off or throw that leaf away. It's like I worry about it but I'm pretty sure that we all have parasites of some sort. It's probably time for me to do a cleanse since I've never done one before. There is no telling what I might find. I'm actually kind of scared of seeing something so when I do a cleanse, I probably won't look lol.
