Hi all,
I am still transitioning into a raw diet and am wondering what sources of protein are best. I am a vegetarian and nuts are just way too heavy for me...even after eating a bit of nut butter or nuts I just feel tired and heavy. I have heard sprouts are good, but I was wondering what kind of sprouts?? Thank you!

ive never really bothered to look seriously into the details of non nut / seed proteins so cant say about sprouts , but thought ide suggest unhulled raw sesame seeds ground up in blender to which is then added like a banana / berry / water type smoothie mixture . the sesame's also a good calcium source .

It seems I say green smoothies for everything!!
Huge amounts of protein in greens.

It's not protein you need so much as a variety of amino acids which are alive and available in EVERY raw food you eat.

Yah, protein is really a non-issue. Set your mind at ease!

It tastes exactly like pond scum, but Spirulina is the highest source of protein found in nature, and it's an algae. I'm drinking some right now, as a matter of fact. If you can handle sea vegetables, Spirulina isn't so bad. You might also try hemp protein mixed in with your green smoothie. A lot of people on this board do that, as well...

Ah, but spirulina is yummy. :)
(See the thread with the photo of my 3 year old coated in it after having feasted on it, wherever that is. He loves it, and so does my 15 year old, and so do I, and we always have, all of us. And, yeah, it's chock full o' protein - though you really, really don't need to sweat the protein.)

How do you do with homemade almond milk? Does it also make you feel yuk?
I don't find it as heavy myself.
