I haven't read the book, but I noticed the DVD in my local library. I had an opportunity to watch it over the weekend and it provided more insight into the reasons why I do not eat meat and haven't for many years. I learned some things I wasn't aware of. The level of corruption and programming made me cry, laugh and open my mouth in silent shock. I had a very difficult time after the slaughter scenes. I'm a pretty sensitive person anyway, but I had to pause the movie a couple of times to stay grounded.

The producers, director and actors did a great job portraying the issues even for someone (me) who thought she knew everything about it. The format of using mini-stories helped to link this circle of insanity effectively. I've always had strong convictions to not eat certain processed foods, but I can never drive by one of those fast food joints and ever think of it the same way. We often think of the animals when we speak of meat processing plants and slaughterhouses, but human beings are also adversely impacted and injured on a daily basis. The thing that impacted me the most was a quote that "some animals (cows primarily) are processed while they are conscious". I understand about energy and eating dead, tortured animals, but when I heard this it just took my breath away and I cried. How could you ever walk in the door of a fast food place or eat meat after hearing that? You are in essence eating 'tortured death' and it will remain with you in your own body. I think this movie will bring a great gift of awareness for many, particularly those who are on the fence about changing their diets and foregoing meat. The dvd will probably be more accessible and has a better chance of being retained in the memory banks for the non-readers in one's life. I highly recommend passing it along or seeing it for yourself if you haven't already.

Send a prayer for these animals today.

Peace.

After watching, "fast food nation," I stopped eating cows. "Earthlings," turned me into a vegan.

I highly suggest this movie as well.

Oh yes, a good movie.
I bought it at a dvd sale and thought it would be a bit entertaning like Super sice me or somthing. Boy was I wrong. I was shocked as you Rawheaven about the condition of the workers, and after the slaughter secene I couldent sleep that night. It was just tooooo shocking after a fairly quiet movie. Im a sensitive person too ;) What an effect.
Well I have been a vegetarian since my teens, about 18 years now and a vegan for almost 4, so the movie just confirmed for me why im doing this and why it is soooo important for the world to know what is really going on.

FFN is an excellent, excellent movie.

Another one I recommend is "Eating" by Mike Anderson (ask Revvell about obtaining this). I have bought two. One I lend out. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this one as well. If this doesn't make one become a Raw Vegan, well, I don't know what will...

i just watched "eating" by mike anderson...wow...thank you so much for posting that, veganforlife. i had seen some documentaries in the past, but that one was by far the most shocking for me. before going raw i had eaten meat every once in awhile and really saw nothing raw with the consumption of eggs and dairy products, but now i can't even imagine eating them. thanks for the eye opener!

Absolutely! Very eye-opening...

I can't believe how much grains are grown for the animals that are consumed. THAT is totally, totally insane!!! Especially when there are starving babies on this planet!

Shame on us...:(

Yeah I don't know, but they kept showing him biting into cheeseburgers. It was like slow motion to me. It was so weird. The first time I watched it I was so glad I was a veggie, but the second time it brought on the cheeseburger cravings lol!

That was me after watching Supersize Me. I couldn't believe it -- me, health activist, vegetarian, hadn't eaten McDonalds in two decades and within a month of that movie's release, I had just left my job and was on a road trip, stressed out, and found myself at the counter ordering a Big Freakin' Mac. I was stunned! But that was very short-lived, thankfully. Oh I feel queasy just thinking about it. bleck!

We both have been vegetarian for 5 years and watch this guy eating food in slow-mo and it brought on the cravings!! I hope they do contact me to represent them. I can sabotage from the inside.. don't judge people - nobody is perfect.

WHOA Nellie - slow down. I'm not trying to come across as judging or implementing that I am perfect by NO means. I am about as far from perfect as it gets.

It just flips me out that after watching a movie one would have a desire to partake in eating like that...that's all...

sorry EVERYONE if I came across as judgmental -did not mean it that way at all...

peace????

For the sake of peace I just want to say that I ever since I found out I was pregnant, everything I see advertised on tv.. OK EVERYTHING.. I'm talking Fast Food, Grocers, Butchers, whatever.. I want it, and I HAVE to have it ok! I have broken down a few times. I will tell you with my son I was a vegetarian the whole time, with this poor baby, I have had Applebee's, Cafe Ole', Jack in the Box, McDonalds, Grocery Store Deli Sandwich, Subway. I mean the list goes on. I am here now. But you are right. No one is perfect. Not one person I have ever met. I am embarrassed reading the list of disgusting food I have put into my poor little babies body. I am so glad I am back to RFT!!! I think we are all here for a reason, and its wonderful. Because we are here.. its better for us, the earth, our families, the animals, everything. Well maybe not the nuts and vegetables.. but whatever. lol :)

We're glad you are here too....

Stop watching those commercials or driving past those fast food places. Pick up Alissa's book. Watch her DVDs. Get more and more books on Raw foods. I constantly (STILL after close to three years now) read and read EVERY day about raw foods and recipes. I am constantly surrounding myself with THESE positive things...

Congrads on the pregnancy!!!

I thought the same thing! That it would be similar to super size me. I was a bit overwhelmed too. You don't really think of the whole picture and wow, they do show the whole picture. I've been a veggie since I was in my teens too. It's so nice to be surrounded by like minded people. We are not alone. :)

Hey it's great to be aware of where you are. If you're having a craving for something, better that it's on the surface then sabotaging you silently. I admire your honesty Nayeli_Raw. You know during a long water fast I had all kinds of weird cravings for everything that I haven't eaten for years, including meat. Bleh. After doing some research I discovered it has something to do with what you're releasing from your emotional body as it heals - literally stuff gets stored in your tissues. It could've been a similar thing you were experiencing. You might still be healing and if you see a food visual of something over and over and over again, boom you want it. As Lucy mentioned, the power of subliminal advertising probably has something to do with it too. It can catch up to us all. And I disagree, we're all perfect creations simply experiencing frequent growth opportunities. hahahaaa.
