I have noticed... I have had alright energy for the past couple of days (only about a week raw) but when I eat a banana, my energy immediately plummets and its hard to get it back..............

Anyone know why this might be?

Could be the high natural sugar content is spiking your blood sugar? Or could be an allergy?

Never heard of that. I keep them handy just because they are quick and easy.

I am thinking it's the fact that bananas are very high glycemic. They will affect your blood sugar almost the way refined sugars do.

Thank you guys! ...

I have begun to read up on high glycemic fruits! I think that might be the issue... I have never had trouble with bananas, but now that I have been raw for a couple of days they have been a huge staple because they are the only "heavy" food that I can eat. (highly allergic to all nuts and most seeds).

I guess I need to find something else!!

I have the same problem, but only sometimes when I eat them. For me I think its the high sugar. Sometimes they dont bother me at all and other times I crash shortly after I eat them. I try to avoid them unless I am craving them.

Hi there,

Don't give up on bananas! It could be a temporary reaction. Try eating them with some greens; if it is a blood sugar issue, the greens will slow down the sugar assimilation and give you less of a crash.

Reading through the posts I came to the same conclusion as Chilove. Eat them with a lot of greens - in green smoothies. -especially since you stated you never had trouble with them before.
