ive read a lot of people are always eating dehydrated sweet foods and sweet sweeteners with their food and sweet fruits etc.. i think we might be over treating ourselves. There is a limit that a lot seem to ignore. as im going through detox i notice that im always treating myself with sweet things like oats honey raisins and cinnamon almost everyday i had an addiction to cacao not suprising since i loved choco bars so ive given it up . im stopping eating oats and going onto quinoa and buckwheat because i don't feel my oats are 100% raw and it is slowing down my progress plus im giving up honey because it feels just like my secondary sweet addiction plus it's cruel i feel . a lot of people are going natural sugar crazy! and it's all of a sudden really healthy because it's raw. this is probably extremelly different for the people who have passed their detox and ascended to a new level of health. but for those of us who are in the begining. i think we should just have less sweet treats and just stick to ordinary fruit and veg as much as possible for the time being lot's of green leafy veggie treats. most will prob not agree with me but i just thought id share that i think ive been eating raw junk food. which will still give spots and miserable mood swings now and again. so i will do detox properly. i won't treat myself anymore because i don't feel i deserve to be. i just want all my young years of junk out of me. it makes me sick to look at meat or smell anything cooked now. im going to stop finding alternatives. and stop dried fruit has anyone got addicted to these i have. nuts and seeds are great sprouted but without soaking them i don't feel too good.

Cool! :)
As far as dried fruits ~ rehydrate by soaking first and make sure no sulfites have been added. I've found that when I rehydrate, I don't eat as many. This would include raisins btw.
Also, you "might" think people are going "natural sugar crazy" yet, that might be your mis-percetion. See, folk forget what they'd been eating previously. They forget when they were SAD or even vegetarian they were probably eating LOTS of "health" sweets. I know I was.
Yet, I'm here to tell ya, when I first started raw, I did as Alissa suggested ~ All raw, anytime. I made all KINDS of raw pies, "gourmet" nut dishes, fudge, etc. That lasted maybe ~ oh, no more than 3 months. I still make them on occasion yet mostly raw fruits and veggies and a handful (I have small hands) of nuts. Today I will be making a raw fudge.
Since that time, I eat whatever I want, whenever I want ~ and what I want is in the fridge or on the kitchen counter mostly. Raw fruits, veggies, etc. For sweets, my I make almond milk and my husband makes it into banana milkshakes. (just add vanilla and agave). Occasionally, some coconut caramel cookies yet, I find I hardly eat them.
See, thing is, it's good you are adjusting your food program yet when you post something like you did, it brings up fear in people. Am I eating too many nuts? Am I eating too many sweets? The monkey mind does NOT want us to deprive ourselves. We NEED to, at first, eat anything it's lil chattering self wants. As it learns that it CAN have it IF it wants it, it'll let go, lighten up ~ and enjoy it's foods.
Good "seeing" you ~
Enjoy!

yup i see your point. thx for the rehydration info :) im going to be doing that always now : D
Hey, Dragonfist, have you found any good value suppliers for organic sprouting seeds in the UK?
I'm currently getting mine from bargainjuicers.co.uk
Elaine Bruce recommends organiccatalog.com but I haven't tried them yet
Any other suggestions?
BTW, buckwheat greens are great, but don't eat too many of them, particularly if you regularly get a lot of sunshine on your skin (not all that likely in the UK, I know, but all joking apart, just read the following):
http://www.gillesarbour.com/buckwheatArticle.php
Note that the Hippocrates Institute have taken note of this article and are now placing a greater bias on green pea sprouts than on buckwheat, as a consequence.
Cheers,
J.

yes , I know what you mean fresh ,whole veggies and fruits ARE superior , but these "sweet treats" -ar living ,have LOTS of minerals and vitamins - you CANT say that with sad (or cooked "healthy" vegan )sweets. So its a great way to keep people who WERE eating lots of SAD sweets on raw....revvel I had my FIRST raw "dessert "(a brownie) yesterday and LOVED it , I could only eat a small part of it -but gosh it was a VERY balanced meal - walnuts ,orange peel , carob , and agave nectar . It was SO filling(even though I had just a little) !!!!

Welcome Dragonfist and best wishes on rawhood. Myself, in total of the day, I may have one (to two) serving of sweets on a given day and I mean the dehydrated kind. Like some will profess, your body as it makes transitions will start to crave the wholesome taste of fresh, high water content & sweet fruits................and vegetables.
What's great about dehydrated is, I feel it gives me choices, creativity and security knowing that my food prepared two different ways--still has live and active nutrients.
luv,
ml :)

hee hee , well I guess the rare larabar and raw ice cream would count right?
but YES it was my first raw desserty dessert - I typically feel best with fresh fruit ,but it was SO good!
once I had a tiny bit of "RAW" carrot cake, but found out that the seeds I used were roasted -does that count?

somehow if it is a raw treat i endulge...... hey it is raw. i have raw honey at home and rarely use it....... mostly agave nectar (sooooo low cal) as far as dehydrated sweet stuff i am addicted to the WF organic dried mangos but i get thoes once a month or so. i don't soak em but i will drink a lot of water so i don't fill up on dried goodies. love the sweets i do admit i eat mostly fruit and add greens to my smoothie. i also enjoy a big kale salad mid to end of the day.
