I love to use my Vitamix to make sorbet. You just put in the frozen fruit with a small amount of liquid and use the tamper to grind it up. Did you get the recipe book and the DVD with it? They have the sorbet recipes in the book, I just modified them to make them raw. You can also use fresh fruit and several cups of ice to make it with fresh instead of frozen fruit, but I like using the frozen fruit best.

Last Christmas, I used it to make a delicious raw cranberry recipe wtih a bag of cranberries, a orange (skin and all) and an apple and a small amount of sweetener (I used "raw" sugar), but I would probably use stevia or agave now). (This was actually a modification of an old family recipe that my mom made in a food grinder every year.) I just ground all of the aobve in the VM until it made a fine relish. It goes well with the mock turkey recipes in Alissa's book.

Of course, it is great for green smoothies and raw soups. You can even run it long enough to warm the soup, but be careful, you can actually bring stuff up to boiling in there.

What I use my vita-mix the very most for is smoothies (green and fruit). I love the way it makes the cheese cake filling soooo creamy and I love how creamy it make the choc. mousse recipe. Oh, I love to also make dressing in it, it really makes the oil mix into the dressing. Oh, another thing too....when you add flax seed to your smoothies, it totally breaks them up into such small bits that it's only the taste that lets you know they are in there. ENJOY your vita-mix!

I second the suggestion on the vitamix site :D

I use mine every day to make smoothies. It also works great for raw pudding, raw soups, nut cheeses and butters.

I put the fresher stuff in there first and add frozen stuff last.

It does a fabulous job on everything I have used it for.

I use my vitamix everyday for a green smoothie. My current favorite is an orange, spinach and/or rainbow chard (not to much red chard), a frozen banana, and a handful of frozen strawberries, with a little water. A couple times a week I use it for making almond and/or hazelnut milk. I love that blended with dates or agave and frozen fruit. Also, at least once a week I make a smoothie of almond milk, dates, and banana, and sometimes cacao and agave, too.

Happy Blending! :)

Pine Nut Pudding:

1 Cup Pine nuts
1 Cup Dates
1 Cup Water

Blend together, then sprinkle with coconut flakes and nutmeg. Tastes delicious!

Fabulous machine!! Smart consumer!!

I love to make almond mylk in mine. Green smoothies, too.

My best tip: use it now that you have bought it. I have used mine almost everyday since I bought it. Can't say that for the juicer or dehydrator but then again, that's my fault.

Just in case you don't know yet. No, you can not juice with a blender.:( Juicers remove the fiber, blenders break it up.:o

No, you can't juice with it per se but then, why would you want to? Blend and keep the fiber. IF you want juice, blend, then strain out the fiber.

Rawlinda Sue, that's happened to me so often in the last week! Nut butters, etc... Last night I had a dream I was blending something in the dry container (which I don't own) and it started smoking! Luckily, the REAL blender is much stronger than in my dream!
