i am getting a dehydrator in a couple of weeks. and was wondering how long cookies and crackers would last once they are dehydrated. i would love to send them to my husband. but don't want them to go bad before they get there. thanks

I've had things go bad even after dehyd...I suggest putting crackers in the freezer if you make a lot. Then they're good forever :)

I agree with having them very dry as shipping can be hot! I sent dehy. fruit leather out and it arrived in good condition. Cookies...where's hubby? Thoughtful gift.

Congrats of getting a dehydrator; mine is on 24/7!
Thoroughly dried & properly stored crakers & toasts will last months, if not longer! Dehydrating is very dependable on your local climate. A cracker in Sounthern California may only take overnight to fully dry whilst here in Seattle it can often take several days. I have been known to dry a cracker for five days before I store it! So use the drying times as a guide only and don't worry if the suggested time is waaaaay off.
Cookies are different. I do two types; one is fully dehydrated and like my crakers I keep those in the pantry in an airtight glass jar. Those that are "soft", i.e. not fully dehydrated I devide up keeping a useable batch in the fridge and the rest in the freezer rotating them into the fridge when needed.
