This is probably too much info but hey, i feel ok being open on this forum! :D The past few days, I've been going to the bathroom A LOT. I'm talking 6-7 times a day, maybe more. It's been quite inconvenient! The only thing I can pinpoint that I might have changed in my diet is that I've been experimenting with flax more. Made some crackers, bread, and crutons the past week. I'm pretty sure flax has a good fiber content, so I'm wondering if that's whats doing it? Has anybody else found that it has that effect on them? Or am I just sensitive to it?

Anna,
I know when I eat melons I also get a super cleaning out.

For your many BM's I'm thinking it could be the fiber. I don't eat much flax. Just for no reason either. Are you eating 6x day? Usually its common to go to the bathroom within 30 or less after eating meal.

Are you feeling GREAT? Let's see what others share.

oh, yes, the fibers and increased water intake, along with the detoxifying effect in general of eating raw will do it. Your mileage may vary as far as what fibers do it the most too. Sounds like the flax seeds are doing their job as intestinal brooms. Although flax is very good for me too, what I REALLY notice a difference with is the presence of chia seeds in my green smoothies - these go to work pretty quickly too.
How long have you been raw? That might have something to do with it too - some people do indeed get almost the runs at first with the switch, and then it stabilizes to just good easy BMs.

Flax is a laxative. I have to be careful with it. I already eat a ton of fiber.

I have the opposite problem. I'm 100% raw and only poop 1-2 times per day. Even my cooked partner poops more than that. I don't get it.

Hey, me too, but I feel great, so I don't really mind that I only go 1-2 times per day. (Also, TMI . . . my BMs are huge).

On average, David Wolfe says you should go to the bathroom 3 times a day if you eat 3 meals a day. Otherwise you're constipated. If you're going more than that...I don't know what to say. I'm suffering from the same problem, but it feels "cleansing." I think I probably have an impacted colon from all my years of SAD eating. Maybe it will clear up after a while.

Yeah, I feel good too so I'm sure I'm fine...like Rawstrength said, it's a LOT that comes out but just only 1-2 times per day. Lol.

Thanks for all of your replies. I agree, it could be a combo of finally getting things moving after being raw for almost a month, and also the flax. I really don't mind going so much, as I feel much lighter and it's nice to have that "cleaned out" feeling. But when I wake up at 3am to go, it's not too fun! :p

Anyways I'm going to try to keep tabs on what I'm eating more and seeing how it affects me.

I use the throne far more when I am 100% raw. I think of it this way....when my kids were babies every time they nursed or ate they had to be changed. I believe our bodies are designed to be this way. Eliminate when you eat. I think chewing is a signal to the body to move out the old and make room for the new. I know when potty training a puppy this is the rule to follow as well. Always take the puppy outside immediately after a meal.

I would say you are fine. Stay hydrated properly though.:D

Hope you have a super day!
