Hey everybody,
For a while I have been really frustrated attempting to follow a raw food diet. The recipes took too long for me and I didn't like them at all. I also had so many back lashes into sugar. :-( BUT! Finally I thought of something, why don't I just create my own simple recipes based around foods I want to eat.
So not too long ago I sat down and just started thinking of foods I wanted to eat and created simple recipes for them. For instance if I wanted to eat some french fries I in the past would stop by McDonalds, now I open some Callliflower (can't spell) cut it up length wise, warm it up to 100 degrees. Take it out, salt it well. I created a simple ketchup alternative with no sugar or anything. Then if I am in the mood for greesy (sic) fries I just add olive oil (extra virgin). What about if I want cheese? Just grate up some carrots on top.
I am shocked how it satisfies my cravings, takes so little time and is a decent knock off. No it's not exactly the same but my mouth can't hardly tell.
This to me is awesome because I have been so frustrated eating salad after salad. Now I create Chicken, Rice and Cheese Burritos (with no chicken or cheese, but awesome substitutes) and I happy as a clam.
And for those times I want that sugar fix. 1 orange, 1 apple cut up with raisins and some unsweetened coconut on top. Man I ain't even sacrificnig anything, tastes better than a stinkin candy bar.
Only problem is that I have run out of things to try to make :-) 50 recipes and going strong. I love it.
I do have 2 non raw things I eat but ya know it could be a lot worse (like my last diet of eating fast food 3 times a day). I cook soybeans because to me they are horrible raw (maybe I will find a raw way I like them in the future) and I eat wheat tortillas but I am going to try to transition that to lettuce. I really just use it for function not taste.
So to everyone there dealing with cravings I heartily recommend creating substitutes and seeing how they work on cravings that you got. Let me know how it goes and if you want any recipes let me know (I got them for almost everything I could think of).
