I am a huge (past) fan of tomato soup. I ONLY ate Campbells, and I would go through a can a day! :D
Well, lately, my main cheats have been buying canned soup once or twice a week, because I couldn't figure out how to duplicate the soup to fit my VERY POWERFUL cravings... and it's COLD down here now! :(
The canned soup has thrown my whole raw balance off, and it made me feel like CRAP.
Then I got creative, and came up with this ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS raw soup recipe!!!
* 2 large beefsteak tomatoes (organic tastes better!)
* 2 peeled cloves of fresh garlic
* 1/2 cucumber (peeled!)
* 2 T. sunflower oil (coldpressed)
* 2 c. water
* Bragg's Aminos to taste...
* Sea salt to taste...
Blend in blender until creamy and smooth. Then heat a glass bowl in the microwave with a teensy bit of water to get the bowl hot. Then pour tomato soup into hot bowl and serve! Voila!!!
Warm and TASTY raw tomato soup!!!

Hey, that sounds excellent! Now, for the classic combo, you could add some dehydrator crackers/bread with some amazing cashew cheeze spread, warmed up a little in the D. Sounds like a cold day plan to me - LOL!

I would do that, and probably add hot peppers. :) Then again, I'm a sucker for spicy food! Especially in the cold months...

That sounds pretty good. I would probably add some cashews or macs finely ground up to make cream of tomato (my old fav SAD).

Mmmmm yum... I haven't successfully made a raw tomato soup yet, but I know it is a mental block more than anything. Looking forward to trying this! YUM!

mmm you want spicy... add some cayenne to it!
of course, instead of using a horrid microwave... you could simply run hot water over the bowl :)
and remember, if you want to warm your soup on the stove... just be sure to heat it slowly and as long as you can stick your finger in the soup and it's not over your body temp... then it's not too hot! (but it'll be warm)
better yet, if you have a vita-mix (https://secure.vitamix.com/acb/stores/5/index.aspx?COUPON=06-002919)... just blend it longer and it'll warm nicely!

shh, she said she'd warm the bowl in the microwave and then pour in the soup, don't panic. ;) but the running hot water over the bowl method aleesha suggested works really well, as does extra time in the vitamix or heating carefully on the stove or in the dehydrator.
that soup sounds really really good though. i bet it would be nice with zucchini pasta and some other veggies for some texture. and hemp oil... or maybe even coconut oil? lots of possibilities. congrats on the problem-solving!

This sounds like a good recipe. Thanks!
thanks for the recipe!
i'll confess that the bit about the micro wasnt' clear to me either at first.
i'll probably just boil a kettle of water and rinse out the bowl to make it warm. i don't own a microwave, i'm afraid those things cook ME when they turn on!

They most certainly DO! Yikes. I wouldn't allow my husband to have one when he moved in with me and he was very sad about it for a long time but I think now he finally understands why. Noooo zapping with radiation if we can help it, thank you...

I wondered what you were saying about me using a microwave to heat the soup... icky icky NO!!!

See? I just meant I would warm the BOWL... not the lovely fresh cold and European soup! ;)
BTW, I MUST try the cashew idea!!! I LOVED cream of tomato soup when I was S.A.D. and that must be an astonishingly good replacement!

Just made it and ate it.....I liked it alot. The type of tomatoes will make a very big difference in the flavor....I also added some cashews to thicken it but I would have liked it a bit thicker. THANKS again for your recipe!

Haven't read all replies but if that soup doesn't satisfy your hunger, try adding some walnuts. I would also recommend using walnuts rather than the refined sunflower oil as whole foods are always better than refined products.
I'm also surprised you would get cravings for something you can make almost an exact duplicate in raw. There's probably MSG in taht soup that's causing a physical dependance, MSG is used to increase hunger and get you physially addicted to the food. The only cooked cravings I get are for things you can't make raw, like potatoes or bread.

The cravings I mentioned were for HOT SOUP... you can't have hot soup on raw. ;) And also, the canned soup I was buying before was Clam Chowder. If anyone knows a raw-duplicate for clam chowder, TELL ME!!! *laughs* I will make it this second. :D
Gosh... that's an idea... I'm going to hunt for a clam-chowder-raw-recipe... :eek:
