Just wondering what everyone else does for Breakfast.
I'm on the Candida Diet and haven't had Breakfast because, I don't know what to eat that's breakfasty. I was doing phase 1 for a about a week and now am doing more phase 1.5 so, I can have grapefruit and goji berries.
So, this morning my breakfast was a handful of Walnuts w/cacao and goji berries....yummy but, doesn't feel like a meal more like a snack.
Any suggestions out there for me?

I'm not familiar with that diet. I eat raw. Whatever I want to eat. Some days it may be raw ice cream. Other days nori wraps. It just depends. Sorry. Not much help, huh?

I'm following DR. Gabriel Cousens, MD - Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine formula and he does have recipes in it. Guess, I should look at them, lol! Basically, it's no sugar or starch.
Thanks :)

Jenifae - i listened to a fascinating interview last night with Doug Graham on Renegade Health and he spoke about candida (and diabetes and tons of other stuff). Anyway, his description of what candida is and how to cure it totally made sense to me - and he said if it's not gone in a couple of days, you're not treating it right. Might be worth checking out!

I either have a green smoothie or veggie juice. It may also help to do a mental adjustment re what is "breakfast", "lunch" and "dinner". I have gotten out of the mind set that I have to have "breakfasty" foods. I like to have some fruit in the morning, but otherwise I keep it pretty light. My main meal is lunch and I usually have a very small snack for dinner.

fruit...lots and lots of fruit...sometimes a green smoothie. i'd eat it even with candida...i've heard that fruit sugars are okay, but i've never had candida myself, so i can't say that from personal experience.

I'm listening to the talk now, and his basic assertion is that too much fat feeds candida, not fruit. I had a vaginal yeast infection coming on and I added 10 drops of grapefruit seed extract to every green smoothie and used a tampon soaked in GSE daily for about 5 days. As far as I can tell, it's gone now.

I don't think I will be able to listen to it and can't afford to buy it. I would love to hear more on that. Dr Cousen's says it can take 3-6mths. to get rid of it.

Hi Jenifae,
Well first of all, I just want to say that the information I'm passing along is NOT something that I've tried out myself - I haven't tried the candida diet, haven't even discovered whether or not I suffer from it. So I definitely am not telling you you're doing anything wrong or that this other method might be better... far from it!! I just find this stuff fascinating, and hope it might help. With that disclaimer....
Dr. Graham's basic ideas: 1. Candida is always present in the bloodstream. It's a natural, backup method for lowering excessively high blood sugar. Usually, if the blood sugar gets too high, the candida will eat it all up, increase in population for awhile, but then die right back down because there's no more sugar to eat up. The problem arises with chronically high blood sugar, when the candida blooms uncontrollably and its food source never goes away. 2. The cause of high blood sugar isn't too much sugar in your diet -- everything you eat turns into blood sugar, that's how your cells get fed, is through the sugar in the bloodstream -- the cause is too much fat. Fat coats the cells, making sugar's entrance into them more difficult. (I'm sure there's something in here about different types of fats, but he didn't get into that in the interview). Basically, too much fat = sugar staying in the blood, not entering cells. Hence candida. 3. Since candida is a microorganism with a lifespan of a few short hours, if you're trying a method and it doesn't work after a few days, try something else. 4. Many methods work in curing candida (raw food alone, fasting, etc...), but what they have in common is cutting down on fats.
Here's a link to his webpage where he has a FAQ on candida (scroll down for it):

He's a really interesting speaker, I find. Very informed, very engaging. There are a bunch of videos of him on YouTube.
Whaddya think?

Yes i heard that, this is sadly any fat that he is talking about. But this is great to be able to turn it off in couple days. I am going to check this link for i love reading all kind of interesting info.

Hummmmmmmmm, Thank You :) I think that's very interesting. I'm still reading my book by Dr. Cousens' and am curious about all this. In his book he's talking about omitting all toxins not just candida so, maybe that is the reason for the long period of time. I like the idea of getting rid of it in a week.
I think the trick here is continueing on a Low-Fat ~ Low Gylcemic diet ;)
Breakfast:
So, this morning I made myself a
Breakfast Smoothie:
Almond Milk, Cacao Powder & Nibs, Goji Berries, Vitamineral Green & Spirulina, Coconut Oil & Coconut Shreds, Frozen Bananas & Strawberries.
YUM!

It depends how I feel. I let my body decide.
Sometimes its a smoothie:
3 oranges
3 cups of spinach
Ginger
or
4 lemons
Celery
And other times I'll have a salad:
Avocado
Onion
Garlic
Broccoli
Carrots
Sprouted grains and beans (optional)
Anyways, I try to eat the immune system boosting foods to give my body a head start in the morning.

I like buckwheat with cinnamon for a sustaining, non-fruit breakfast. Is that allowed on the candida diet, or is it too starchy?
What kinds of foods can you eat?
Have you tried making cacao pudding with avocados and cacao powder (love that stuff)?

I think buckwheat might be too starchy but, your Cacao Pudding w/avocado is okay and sounds Great! :)
Thanks :p

Don't forget to add some stevia to the cacao/avocado pudding to sweeten it up.

I like to make dehydrated crackers with flax seed and almonds, and in a food processor mush up some raw peanuts and a bit of oil to help it smoothen up. Its very earthy but you end up really enjoying it. I made the mistake of trying unraw peanut butter during a quick fix and omg it tastes sooooooooo sweet! Stay raw and stay gorgeous lol.
I also like cream of wheat made of banana's and coconut. I have the recipe listed on here somewhere.............

Hi Jenifae,
I've been 100% raw for 16 months now and I was told I have candida. I was told to cut out most fruits. I tried Dr. Cousens rainbow diet phase 1 and 1 1/2. Yes, it probably works. However, once I cut out all my fruit , I was craving other foods big time. I wound up pigging out on nuts and seeds and prepackaged raw desserts. I couldn't stop. I wound up gaining 15 pounds. Still, because of my cravings, I would binge sometimes and wind up eating things I shouldn't have. THEN............I found Doug Graham and 80/10/10. Wow, he made so much sense to me. He said if you cut out fruit, your body will crave carbohydrates and since you are not getting them from fruit, you will need to get them from nuts and seeds and therefore you will be on a high fat diet which is very bad for you. I've been in control of my ED since I went raw, but somehow giving up fruit put me right back into it. I couldn't understand why this was happening. Anyway, I followed 80/10/10 and a miracle happened. The candida disappeared, I lost the weight, I stopped craving foods that were not good for me and I feel 1000 times better. A low fat diet in my opinion is the absolute best way to go and I recommend that to everyone, not only those who have candida. I feel so amazing when I follow Dougs diet. If you would like to e-mail me directly, I think we share a lot of the same problems as I've been reading your posts for a long time now. My email is Garydeb44@verizon.net.
Hope this helps.
