Hello ALL,

As of 11/1/08, I have been raw for 1 year. I actually began the lemonade diet on 10/1/08 and as a result of checking out this forum, I took the 30-day raw food challenge and here I am. I am loving life and have released 76 lbs, thus far. I feel like a million dollars and I love the compliments I am receiving from everyone who knew me when.......

Before going raw, my digestive system was rather sluggish. When training, 1 BM per day, other wise 2 or 3 x's per week. And I would like to give you some idea of my daily routine. I don't have a regular exercise regime and don't really want one. I walk atleast 2 miles per day, I spend atleast 1/2 hour on the rebounder every other day and I do yoga periodically. Upon rising each morning, I take a probiotic, drink a quart of room temperature water and take enzymes with the meal(s) that I have each day. When I do have a green smoothie, I include combinations that support the digestive system (dandelions, apples, carots, ginger, flax seed, coconut oil, pineaple, beets, kale, etc.) My food portions have decreased to almost nothing (not complaining). I have to force myself to eat atleast once per day to ensure I get the proper nutrition. I began with the premise of eating ONLY when I was hungry and I could go days without eating, effortlessly.

However, since going raw and completing the research I have about my body, the lifestyle and the digestive system, I know that I need to be more regular. Atleast once per day. My hope is to reach a point where I eliminate after each meal.

Can anyone provide feedback in the following areas:
1. Additional steps to nourish/heal my sluggish digestive.
2. Additional veggies to include in smoothie/salad that encourages a healthy digestive system.
3. Any recommendations for healing the digestive system.

I apologize for the lenght of the post and thank you in advance for your feedback.

Wow! What a fabulous story. How about sharing some "before and after" pics? Sorry, I am new to this also and can't help you with the digestion problems. But there will be lots of help to be found here from others.:)

Rawesome story !
Good job too : D

About the digestion, I don't think I quite understood exactly what you meant but if you mean 'eliminating' as in dumping the bucket then I may have a bit of an idea.

I found that in myself whenever I ate less I would obviously go to the toilet less often, but I pretty much had a 2-day meal usually- but I soon stopped eating to go on a water fast for 5 days... I found that up to 4th day I was still doing to the bathroom to dump the bucket.

Maybe for you since you're eating one meal a day it possibly slows down your metabolism- taking it longer to get rid of the food you ate that day so you might end up skipping a day or two before the food you ate on that day leaves your body(bundled up with whatever you ate before that day too).

This is only a theory :'/ I don't know exactly might but maybe it offers some insight into your problem. You could try snacking throughout the day to increase your nutrition and food intake(so your metabolism keeps running constantly).

Also about eliminating, even people on a SAD have diffrent times. I looked up how regularly a person eliminates for my health class and I found very varied results (from everyday to every 3-4 days).

Another reason you might not be going as often is your body could be using up most of the food(quite possible if you usually eat once per day)- leaving only little to get rid of therefore you don't feel as much the need to go to the washroom.

nice to hear you LOST 76 pounds! good for you ! i have found that if you dont eat much you dont poop much either.
your body seems to be using what you give it. you dont seem to eat very much. why try to force your body to poop after every meal...maybe after a year it likes things as they are. as long as your raw and eating well and feel ok. thats whats important.
but if you REALLY want to poop more.... eat MORE!
and again... congrats on LOSING 76 pounds!
