Hello, my husband bought an automatic sprouting for me. Sadely, three days after using this machine, there were mold forming.
Ok, in the instruction, they did say to use some peroxide on the seeds before sprouting them. I am not crazy about using this, for i don't know if it will go in the sprout and stay there. I was wondering if there is a natural way such vinager that would work and prevent those molds with this automatic sprout. This machine works great except that i am dealing with this mold thing again.
Any thoughts or suggestion on what to do??? Or a link to suggest?
Thank you

I have a professional Sprouter that makes lots of Sprouts. I haven't used it in years. This one hooks up to a water line. I never had any mold problem. There are several here that have your Sprouter, so just Bumping it up and maybe they will give you the answer you are looking for.

Are you sure it's mold and not fine hairs/roots? What were you sprouting? Does this machine rinse, rinse, rinse?
As far as the peroxide? Make sure it's food grade quality if you choose to use it.

Also if you call or e-mail, these folks are very easy to deal with and answer questions.

Good day, i want to post an update.
I finally gave in and tried the peroxide. I soak my sunflower seed first and add a little peroxide. Then rinsed them and put them back in my automatic sprouter. This time. I set it to water every three hours for 15min only and also added at first 5 tbs of peroxide in the water tank. I did that until i saw some long root and now, i am only add water with ocean mineral. So far so good. I read in the instruction that the machine while watering keep the temperature cooler which prevent mold, this is why i decided to water every three hours. At first i set it as they recommended. 7am/half hour, 10am/15min, etc... and over night, they didn't have watering and this is during that period that i started to have mold after one week.
Now, my seeds are sprouting green now and so far no mold. I also made sure not to have seed where the draining whole were on my trays.
In the book the recommend grapefruit seed extract to replace the peroxide. I am going to buy this when i see it and try that instead.
God lord that there are so much to know about sprouting.

The hairs on the roots of some sprouts are normal and you should not try to avoid them, they are part of the plant. Also, peroxide is natural and has many health benefits, it is also apparently very good for cancer patients but there are better things than peroxide to cure cancer, like raw food. Water is H2O, peroxide is simply H2O2.
