View Full Version : What does your raw kitchen look like?

Have you covered your stove top? I never use it anymore (except for the occasional hot tea), and it's just sitting there taking up space. I'm fantasizing about covering it with a butcher block. Has anybody done this?
Also: I'd love to see pics of how you organize your raw kitchen. I have very little countertop and cabinet space, and would really appreciate any tips on kitchen organization! Thanks y'all!

LOL.. I just told my husband this morning that I would love to take out our oven and put in more counter space.. he can get a stovetop appliance for when he wants to cook, lol.. I don't think it will happen though.

I WISH my stove was covered. If I could make my husband raw that would be lovely. We use 4 burners every night for dinner making beans, rice, and steamed and sauteed veggies. Our kitchen is a disaster area because it's tiny and there are 2 of us trying to make 3 very different dinners---my raw one, Hubby's usually processed vegan one, and daughter's whole foods cooked macro-type dinner. We drive each other crazy in there.

Our stove and microwave are in the garage. There's a four door cabinet in it's place. Plus, we bought a second fridge, and two islands that we put back to back. There are two dehydrators as well.
In all fairness though, I teach classes and do other things with raw in my community, so, it's not needed for everybody. :)
P.S. I'll take and post pictures after I 1. Find and 2. Charge my camera! ;)

Here's mine...
Organization? HA! There is no organization! I've covered my stove top (after removing the burners) with an old table top. My counters don't always look like this though...

I KNEW I had seen someone who used their stovetop as counter space for their dehydrator! I think that is a fantastic idea. And Curlygirl - if you want to cover your stovetop with butcher block ... I say GO FOR IT! If I lived in an all raw household I would probably use my stovetop for my dehydrator but it works in my laundry room (right off the kitchen) so that nobody has to listen to it.

I've heard of people covering their stove with a butcher block type of wood and then using the oven as storage.
Veganforlife.....loved your pics.....THANKS!

Wow! Your fridge looks so organized!!! Mine is so NOT organized, lol.. Hopefully after being raw a while it will get better though..
..speaking of butcher blocks on the stove, I would LOVE this but my husband uses the burners.. I wonder if I could get him to make something that covered the stove but part of it lifted to reveal a burner or two if he needs it. Then when he's finished cooking he can put it back down (after it cools). I'll have to hit him up with that idea, lol.. he's gonna love it! :D

Thanks for the pics! Yeah, I'm totally thinking about covering it. Then turning off the gas to the stove. I can just get one of those water boilers for making tea. Now to find the butcher block....
I rent, so I can't just take the oven out - otherwise I TOTALLY would!!!

I agree with this!! I have to make my own stuff, then make his cooked food too. The good thing is: at least he is vegan. I would not put up with having any meat in my house, let alone cooking it.

I've got the stove covered, and I try to keep my fridge organized. Have all my sprouting stuff in mason jars, etc. If I didn't keep it neat, it would look like a raw bomb exploded. :)

Is that a lunchbox on top of your stove? Love it!

I am fortunate that my stove is one of those ceramic types (which I hated for cooking), so it functions nicely as counter top. I ususally use it for some of my spouting equipment. I may consider using it for my dehydrator, but I bought a rolling cart for that and it is currently on my patio.
I still feel very disorganized in my kitchen, but it is gradually getting better.
