View Full Version : Surprising raw community finds

Recently the company that make the raw chocolate bars and superfoods I buy moved into THE SAME STREET as I live in!

I'm out in the suburbs and it was such a surprise to have them move here, now I walk past their shop twice a day to catch public transport and I feel really happy that they are around.

Today I saw three of them outside on a lunch break, eating apples, another guy coming up the road with a big bag of greens. How nice that a little piece of raw community has coincidentally moved to suburban nowhere!

Also, I found out that the OTHER raw bars I buy are made in the kitchen of a lovely vegan retreat and guest house I'm fond of going to in the country. How's that for coincidence!

I guess for me, living in a country that's hardly heard of raw (Australia) and living in a city that's only starting to have a cohesive raw community, it's so damn exciting!

Has anyone else encountered little pockets of raw where they'd least expect it? A cafe offering raw options or someone at your work or school who knows of or is a raw food enthusiast?

Tell me about your story and we can be happy that awareness and the community are spreading. :)

Wow Riiiya, that's fantastic! I hope the meet up goes really well. :)

It's like 'connect the dots' isn't it? All these raw food people hanging about on their own (kind of like me) and connecting up to form networks.

I'm a strong believer in networks for creating communities and supporting the idea of raw in our local communities.

There's a raw meet up group here in Melbourne, I haven't gotten around to going to any events yet. We used to have another separate meet up but the venue we had became unavailable.

Also, this is really cool, I find out at the end of the month whether I'll be dong a raw food demonstration at a major festival that attracts up to 200, 000 people!

Woo Hoo! I can place an online order, pick up on Friday-Tues (bulk items, split cases, eaches, etc..) Plus they have a limited inventory in the actual store, which is open 7 days a week. And it's only 15 min from my house. The prices are awesome.

Lotsaraw, I dream of such a place opening near me, or hell, even in my city anywhere!

Another thing I dream of, which so many people seem to take for granted when the have it :(, is a restaurant or cafe that sells raw food options. It would be too much to hope for a completely raw food cafe/restaurant, but one can hope and dream. I'd spend most of my petty cash at such a place methinks. Not only to eat raw delights but maybe to meet other rawbies.

One day....
