View Full Version : Now it's NOVEMBER! exercise challenge

Hello Everyone-
Please forgive me if I'm stepping on toes here, I didn't see a thread started and I have been M.I.A. for quite a while. I had so many family obligations, volunteer projects and other committees and things I obligated myself to going on that something had to give - so I took a hiatus from posting anything for a while. If there is a thread and I missed it, just point me in that direction and I'll jump right in.
My workouts fell way off course last month. I was all over the place, working out 2 or 3 times a week one week, in the morning, nights, sometimes every couple of days...I got to get my consistency back; it doesn't help me with muscle-building goals being so unorganized with exercises.
I called this thread "Now it's November" because I can't believe that we are on the verge of 2009. The months seem to be whizzing by. I know one thing you guys. I really want to be in between that 130 -140 range and holding steady for 2009. I haven't really tried to push myself lately with so many other things on my mind - still juggling those bills and dealing with not working a regular job any longer and here in IL, the gov. just slashed social services by even more millions.. okay digressing....
My goal is simple for this month and next...hit a target range and maintain it into 2009. That means I've got to push myself with exercise and eating right. Sometimes, I get so busy the whole day goes by and I haven't eating anything..these patterns are my old S.A.D. habits trying to sneak up on me. I don't know about everyone else but skipping meals actually makes me hold on to weight I would like to lose so I've got to get back on the ball with eating at regular intervals....
So that's it for now

Don't usually exercise on Sundays but we were blessed with some unusually nice and warm weather and so I was motivated to a walk for about an hour...even had a few inclines for a bit of a challenge.
Yesterday, nothing fancy - just spent a little time in the gym on the treadmill...

Wonderful Wednesday Everyone-
What a Wednesday...The journey has begun...digressing
So far, I've did about an hour on the treadmill. We were blessed with such a wonderful and bright day that I might go on a trail walk with my sister - it certainly couldn't hurt me.
I'm motivated by all of YOU to get back on track with my exercise groove!

Hello Everyone-
Just getting home after a long rode trip for what seemed like a worthless meeting. Anyway, going to the gym later on tonight and will probably do treadmill intervals (no jogging, just walking with some incline intervals).

5K run for local women's shelter group

Bet the women shelter run was fun PKing...
I'll be working out at home tonight... I think I'll have to settle for making up a routine of drills with squats/jumping/running in place and some stuff like that...
Worked out at home today at night time. Boy do I like working out earlier in the day better than at night. It was really hard to motivate myself to do it after a long day. Today’s exercise: 45 minutes (I really had to push myself today – it wasn’t easy but I did it!)
Shelly McDonald’s circuit workout with weights – 22 minutes
Shelly McDonald’s high/low aerobics with abs – 23 minutes
Went to the gym today and squeezed in a quick workout. It seems time is at a premium lately and it gets harder and harder to squeeze exercise in and stay committed. Today’s exercise: 45 minutes
30 minutes stairmaster
5 minutes of abs
10 minutes of stretching

Hello there friends-
I took today because I've been up for 48 hours trying ot finish a project for tonight. I did but I'm seeing "stars" or something. I had to use common sense; don't think I could drive myself to the gym if I wanted to right about now.
I'll be hitting the gym tomorrow hopefully!

Today's exercise: 1 hour - double step aerobics class at the gym.
Lavender J - I so know what you mean about the busyness of life. Yesterday I thought I really need to get ready for Saturday cause I am doing a mom to mom sale and if I take a day off from exercise its ok. Sometimes other things just take priority and its comforting to know that its ok to give ourselves a break once in a while and do what you can and get to it the next day. I hope you have gotten some sleep and finished your project.
Simply Michelle - welcome back over here. I know what you mean about the lack of traffic on the other site that is why I am over here too (so I don't feel so alone). Even though I really like RFC.

Yep Morn-
We do have to take time out for ourselves...
Late night check in for me. I'm just now getting a chance to check in. Did walking yesterday (technically it's Friday now)...I think that for my Friday workout, I'll try to give myself a little challenge of some sort...
Today's exercise: 1 hour at the gym 50/50 aerobics class with weights and resistance training
With as bad as the economy is and all of the uncertainty around - the message is the same and it is everywhere we turn. It has affected many of us personally and to those close by (friends, family, etc.). Every radio station this morning was saying similar messages. I found myself becoming more and more overwhelmed, and stressed out. I couldn't help but think I really need to do this exercise today cause I know it will help me relieve some of this stress and get my mind off all that is going on around me. Exercising this morning did help me but really the source of my strength and stress reliever comes from above and in HIS word! I am so thankful I serve and awesome and Living Real God - Jesus! He never forsakes us or leaves us! Today I put my hope and trust in HIM!:)
And I thank God for my health and that I can move freely and exercise this body of mine!

THANK YOU Morn-
Reading your post right now kind of gave me a nudge....since I returned home, I've been sitting around not being productive...you are so right, sitting here thinking about the economy, bills and how I am going to pay them. Your post was a reminder for me...reminded me to Praise despite what everything around me looks like-PRAISE!
Now that's what I needed to hear today and I'm going to make today's workout count for something......

Quick hello-
Ended up having a great workout yesterday with treadmill and bike intervals. Today's my off day unless I just jump around for fun....
Andre

Workout:
One-arm Row 25x17
One-arm Curl 20x11
Bent-over lateral raise 5x11
Crunches 55
My left shoulder is hurting again. :( Luckily I can get by with the core exercises with no pain.
Anyways, I looked in the mirror and I'm already starting to get the thickness back that I used to have when I did bodybuilding a few years ago. :)
THANK YOU Morn-

Hey Lavendar - Today's message at church was all about Anxiety and the message was based around Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." We need to stop listening to the lies of the enemy and letting fear and anxiety demobilize us and know that God is in Control - he is still on the Throne and wants us to prosper. And the state of the economy doesnot affect HIS provision. And when we have these thoughts (of fear) we need to just stop them and combat the worry with the promises that are in HIS word. I am so glad that you are tuned in and honoring God with your very being.
Saturday and Sunday were rest days for me! Well kind of - I did a mom to mom sale both days and it was an incredible amount of work but I got rid of a bunch of stuff and made a few dollars in return.
Today’s exercise: 40 minutes
35 minutes elliptical machine

Technically it's now Thursday (midnight and just got home). I had a good challenge on the treadmill at the gym, did lots intervals and the "alpine setting" which gives you the opportunity to do a combo of jogging/walking and inclines.....

taking the night off tonight which means i'll have to make up for it on the weekend instead of taking saturday off...
nighty night
1 hour of cardio resistance training aerobics
p.s. my heel spur is killing me. I think it flared up again last week during an aerobics class and I can't get it to stop hurting. Probably because I am not resting it. Hopefully this weekend of rest will help it.

Oh yes, you definitely want to try to rest it which is hard since we on our feet most of the time....Hope it's healing nicely!
Hitting the alpine setting on the treadmill later today; keeping it simple!

Still hurts. I think long term the only fix for a heal spur is surgery but I really don't want to go down that road cause it will put me out of commission for too long but eventually I will probably have to deal with it. Until then I guess I will just have to suffer through the pain.

Hi rawstar!
I know just how you feel; I think next month I will slowly try to build my endurance up each week because it feels like I'm starting over when I try to do certain things because I don't do them consistently any more, just when I can .... We'll get it back...
