I really want to go 100% raw. My problem is I was completely raised on SAD. Now at 33, I don't like a lot of foods raw, especially green foods (which are the healthiest). I was 24 before I ever ate salad. I haven't found a dressing of any kind that I like. I went 90% raw for about three weeks before Independence Day. I got to the point that I would rather not eat than to eat another salad. My question is will my taste buds change? Will I begin to like this food over time? I'm not sure I can last if it doesn't. Has anyone experienced this? I feel great when I am high raw, I sleep well and am not irritable and snappy with my kids. I know this is THE BEST way to eat. I really want to do this, help anyone

The taste for raw will really grow on you. Try putting some greens in your smoothies. You can't taste the greens like in a salad but for some reason they make the smoothie taste even more wonderful.

My suggestion would be to get a great (un)cookbook. I recommend Raw Food Real World. I haven't received Alissa's book yet (it's in the mail) but I loved a couple of recipes from it that were posted on the board. Eating salad all the time is BORING. You need to mix it up a bit and flavour your food differently. My brother is a chef and his mantra is "it's all in how you season it". That's the key. He once made just plain ole' tomatoes taste so amazing that I could have gorged ALL DAY. I hope this helps.

There are so many, many things to eat that if you dont want salad, dont eat it! You can use green leaves to make a ton of different wraps , toss them in smoothies ( seriously if you dont put in too much, you cant taste them at all..try adding baby spinach to a banana strawberry smoothie as an example~I even freeze that into popsicle molds and my daughters friends all eat it without knowing they are having spinach!), use them in juices etc..

I can tell you at first I didnt care much for the taste of raw, but it definitely grew on me! Now I crave things I once had to make myself eat. My tastes change and yours will too.

Sometimes I go weeks without eating a typical salad. Last night I made hubby and me each a huge salad, looked at mine and thought 'yuck'. So, put it in the food processor and chopped it up like coleslaw and instantly it was all right. Tasted marvelous. Change what raw food you eat as often as you want. If you don't want something, don't have it. There are literally hundreds of possibilities. Do some research and expand your possibilities. www.fromsadtoraw.com (http://www.fromsadtoraw.com/) has the most recipes and links of any sight I’ve seen … free … which is a big help for me. Please don’t get frustrated because you don’t like salad, just don’t eat salad.

I also find throwing the veggies in the food processor helpful. I think it must be that it frees the flavor. Especialy if you mix several veggies together you can get the "processed" product to taste like some of your favorite cooked foods (like the Allisa's mock salmon, which I love).

I plan on using your processor tips at lunch today :D

A dressing you might like:
1 cup olive oil
1 1/2 cup tomatoe
6T apple cider vinegar
3-4 T nama shoyu or tamari
2 T honey
2 tsp italian herb mix (mix of basil thyme orageno garlic)
1 garlic clove

If you dont like salads and greens because of the bitterness or whatever it may be...add red grapes and every bite of salad you take eat a grape with it. I like the taste of salad and i still do this.

also on the salad dressing i add more herbs and honey and put way less olive oil in.. I believe last time I put 1/4 cup olive oil.

I'd suggest find something you DO enjoy and use that as your basic diet, while slowly introducing more. What kinds of fruit and veggies did you like growing up? Surely there was something you liked, even the tomato on your burger or the berries in you pie?

when I first started raw months ago, I didn't have a food processor which made creating recipes more challenging. I was doing salads everyday and for pretty much every meal---eventually I got rawed out.

This time around, I have a food processor and have created: fancy salads, sauces, patés,desserts and soups yet it doesn't end there. I

I would encourage you if you don't already have Alissa's book, to at least visit the site to peak at the book, you are absolutely missing out on all the fun and excitement about how your raw recipes are VERY tastey and addictive! :p

At the top left corner of this webiste is a tab key that says "Alissa, books, dvd's applicance etc." Try it and let us know!

Here is the link instead : http://www.alissacohen.com/

:) :) :) Three cheers for you!

Hmmmmmmmmm! I never thought of doing that to a salad before. I almost want to make one now to try it (even though I'm not hungry). LOL!

Misslinda made an important point suggesting you get Alissa's book.

If your food isn't tasty, I can almost guarantee that you're not using Alissa's book. It's a must.

It's the most accessible, easy to use uncookbook around. And, the text portion before the recipes will give you the information you need to keep you going even if you're feeling really low. The success stories will inspire you greatly.

And, you'll definitely find something in it that tastes good to you.

That said, your taste buds DO adapt. A raw friend and I were discussing this just yesterday -- we went raw for health not for taste. The taste followed after a while. Your taste buds need a chance to "detox" and recover from the assault of processed and cooked foods to which it's become accustomed. They've had to DEsensitize since they weren't being given the subtle natural flavors of raw and alive food. Once you go 100% and stay that way for a month or so (at the most), food will start tasting different.

I agree, the taste buds change! Mine have changed dramatically. When I sit down for my evening meal, I have a silly grin on my face because I can't wait to eat the food. The taste really comes alive (for me after only about 2 weeks raw)
