I was on a business trip in Dallas (accounting conference). One night some of the members of my group wanted to go out to eat. I was wanting ot get a salad since I had run out of my fresh veggies (only nuts and Lara Bars left). The group chose TGI Fridays. My heart sank when I saw the menu, all of the salads contained meat and cheese, etc. So, I picked the salad with the greatest variety of veggies (which happened to be the cobb salad). When the waitress came I ordered the salad without any animal products and then politely asked her if they could substitute more veggies in place of the meat. She was very helpful and suggested that they could add some zucchini I told her that sounded great and to tell the chef to feel free to add any other raw veggies at his discretion. What I got was a beautifly arranged salad with a variety of veggies arranged in a star pattern on top of the base salad. It included tomatos, broccoli, zucchini, olives, peppers, shredded carrots and avocado. Served with a side of balsamic vinegrette. I was very pleased with the results and surpised to get such accomodation in a chain restaurant.

that's fantastic. as a newbie raw fooder, i can only hope that i'll be treated that way when i go out the next time. and as a waitress, i understand simple accommodations like that aren't always as easy as it seems -- did you write the restaurant to thank them for the service? that could totally make someone's day - and increase visibility for the needs of raw fooders, which sorely needs doing.
thanks for sharing!

Welcome to Dallas -- we're not all a bunch of rebels! Most everyone is very nice and accommodating...except when we get behind the wheel and then we fancy we're racing for our lives in Formula 1. :)

Raine,
24th-29th in Arlington.

Oh, Sooper Salad is NOT same as Sweet Tomatoes. Different companies but similar concept. Sweet Tom. is the better of two to me.

Sounds good Carol. I'm currently on Day 6 of my water fast and feeling great. I'm also down 11.6 pounds which I have no complaints about!

Raine,
Wow, way to go girl. Just strictly water? Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listening to turbo jam dvd I recently bought. I also got some today. Now I have duplicate one I will probably sell since I already have this but in a pricey win I choose to win and buy for me besides my gym workout. I'm going to try to do this at home at least 5x week besides the gym workout that includes sometimes Turbo. I belong to 24 hour fitness.

Yes....just water. I do have a squeeze of fresh lime in it. And in the morning I start off with a cup of hot water with lemon as that's good for detoxing the liver.

Raine,
Wow....how long are you aiming to go for. You are amazing. Water fasts are super hard. How much water daily??????? Any enemas?????? Wow, go girl. I won't be in TX till 24th however so maybe we can still meet on your fast or not. I can't promise but would love. Let's see how it goes on both our ends.

Carolg:

I'm just drinking according to thirst. The first few days I wanted very little but that has increased over the past 3 days.

No enemas.

I don't know how long I am going to go but as long as I feel as good as I do now, I'll keep plugging away.

As far as going out around food, it doesn't bother me. I even did a volunteer stint at the Salvation Army food kitchen last Sunday and went out to "eat" with the group later. They had Tex-Mex...I had water. ;)
