Greens, greens, greens! But add some calcium in with them for best absorption of the iron. (For example, make a green smoothie with greens and add oranges in too)

Dandelion leaves are very high in iron.....the baby leaves are best unless you like the bitter taste of the more mature leaves.

Dandelion is great because it has tonnes of iron AND potassium. Nettles have tonnes of iron, but leech potassium from your body.
My favourite is spinach. Every time I give blood, I drink green smoothies with spinach the day before. The iron test passes easily, the blood just plummets. Otherwise, the blood slowly sinks to the bottom.

Kale, spinach, strawberries.

i think you meant to say add vit c (citrus). calcium inhibits iron absorption.

I believe beets and their greens are also a good source of iron.

Thanks all> I love black mission figs.. Wahoo! So when you read about Other iron blockers include carbonates, oxalates, and phosphates. Foods that contain these iron blockers include, cranberries, rhubarb, spinach, and soda. So do they mean like the cranberry juices that are cooked in the store? And the spinach cooked? because I eat both, Im juicing raw cranberries at the moment and adding them to green smoothies. So if the spinach is the cooked kind, raw is fine, what about raw juice cranberries in green smoothies? will that block my iron? If it does, how long should I wait till I consume my green drinks if I have a cranberrie smoothie earlier? curious.
