I was wondering if anyone else is going to start a fast (any fast) in November. I am planning on doing a juice fast from November 1-December 10 (40 days). I will try to start a blog and record every day of my journey :) If anyone else is interested, please feel free to keep me company :D

I am focusing on water & juice fasting through the end of the year. I'm currently on Day 3 of water and would like to do this for 7-10 days then switch to juice and then back to water. There are certain health/weight goals I wish to achieve and New Years Eve is far enough out to accomplish them but close enough to be cracking the whip!

Hey Raine!
I'm so excited you'll be doing the fast as the same time as me! I see you'll be past the worst days when I start. I would really love to do it more than 40 days but I'll see how I feel on day 40. Are you blogging your experiences anywhere besides this forum? Well, I can'y wait till Saturday..I've been pigging out a bit lately and don't feel too good. haha.
cool! cool! I'm in. Well, I'm fasting now anywho. :) so glad to have more company!
i was just writing in the other thread that it would be cool to do some type of fast way past the holidays! would be most awesome, hehe. i have so many things to heal esp. my eyes. i have astigmatism and would like to see how all this affects my eyes. we'll see. right now, i'm water fasting. after that, smoothie fast. yeah, while you guys are juice fasting. i'll have my smoothies!!!!!! nyah!!!! :p

Count me in, i'm not sure what kind of fast i'm going to do yet. I might do a mixture between a juice fast and a water fast. I've never done a water fast before so i'm interested in trying it out.
Nov. 1 is a Saturday for me... the weekend! RawHeaven pointed it out on another thread that starting a fast on the weekend, when we can relax might be easier. since the first 3 days are the hardest, & it's usually cool sailing from there.
Combining a juice & water fast sounds good to me. I might try that out next year. :) This year... I'm too in love with water fasting. :p Especially when I expelled that critter in the toilet bowl (I know! I know! I've mentioned it too many times!), I thought it was so cool & yet creepy. I mean... I didn't even do a parasite cleanse!

I'm in! I am doing a colon cleanse (one of my packages) and a parasite cleanse to end it. Woohoo! And juicing the whole time. I am on Day 2 and I feel so good already.. Had a lot of sleep last night so I'm hoping my only detox is sleeping longer.. we will see.
I am starting the MC tomorrow, as I always like to start on a Friday. I'm hoping to survive the weekend as I've been eating GARBAGE!! Need to get some control back in my life and get back to raw. I'm hoping to go for a while but will listen to my body as I progress. Juicing is too much of a chore for right now but I may give it a go on down the road. I've never water fasted and am not sure I even could! Wow! That takes some determination! Looking forward to getting to know you all and to soaking up your enthusiasm.

Oh yeah. Sleeping while detoxing is the best. Anyone try to fight it out though? While awake, I'm barely ever sleepy. But boy! The moment I shut off all the lights & music, I don't even remember laying my head down! :D
I also felt like juicing was a chore. Is there a juicer where you can just throw the whole fruit in w/o any prep? I disliked the cleaning & prep & losing the fiber. Which is why I want to smoothie after the water fast. Easy clean, prep (if any prep :p), & I don't lose the fiber except through poop which is a good thing! ;)
What products are being used for the colon & parasite cleanse? Please let me know where you ordered them. I'm interested in trying those out afterwards.

I'm so excited you guys!! So many of you are joining, I'm not going to be alone :) I also would like to juice fast and include some water days for greater detox. As long as I juice the first three days, water fasting is not difficult. I tried water fasting numerously without juicing beforehand and always failed the second day! Can't wait until I am 2 weeks into it already..:)
Hey Mel, I read your blog awhile back and got really excited because I would also like to become a flight attendant but didn't think that was possible with being raw! yay! I always wanted to write you an email but never got around to it :) I'm waiting it out though and seeing if the economy will get better.:D

i'm in:D i am going to start a green smoothie cleanse. going to do it until the 15th of november:D good luck everyone!!!!!!
My last fast was this summer and went for 6 weeks. I had been doing really good on my raw diet since the fast until about two weeks ago. My grandmother had a severe heart attack. I spent a lot of time in the hospital and hospic with her over the last two weeks before she passed away. During that time, my diet really suffered and i am feeling as heavy as lead weight.
I am planning to do a fast to clear my head and to get refocused on life.
I am planning on a short fast: 3 day of strictly raw going in, 15 days fasting, then back onto a raw diet. I will start my actual fast on Monday, November 3rd.
It would be great to have a support group. I find when I am fasting that I get very talkative!

I'm in starting Monday the 3rd. I do better starting the work week and not on a weekend. Ready for major resetting !!! Will do MC and maybe alternate a bit with GS ( non fruity ones). I want to make it to Thanksgiving Day and use that day to be home, rest and come off fast.
It's nice to have other folks out there to share all this with. I am tired of falling back to self medicating with food that is non raw. This is now, that was then and with the stress of the world I can make myself happier and healthier one day at a time.

Hey WhiteDaisy!
Being a flight attendant is the best job ever. However, they are paying less and less.. and with the fuel prices you will have very little job security. I am currently on a two year leave of absence because of the latest rise in fuel. (I am happy though.. it gives me time to work on marketing my business).
But yeah.. being raw is difficult when you're a flight attendant but totally doable. You really have to plan and bring lots of food with you, and know where you're going and what produce stores are in the area.
Cleansing is really not possible when you're a flight attendant which is why I'm going gung-ho on the cleansing now. It's not the healthiest job either, which is why I need this cleanse.
So go us, November cleansers!! :D

This is my first fast EVER which I started on Thurs night (Oct 30). Same exact time last year I went 100% raw and never looked back. There's something about this time of year that causes my body to cry out for CHANGE.
I wanted to do just a water fast with a little bit of Kombucha to help with the hunger pangs. It's been surprisingly easy so far. I even watched the food network all day yesterday without ill effects.
Glad to join you guys!

I'm on Day 6 of my water fast and down 11.6 pounds.
Energy is good and steady, great sleep, mental clarity and emotions are very grounded. I shall keep going forward as I'd like to see if I can come close to the time a friend of mine on the water fasting support board at www.CureZone.com has accomplished. He's currently on Day 23 going for a break of his 27 day record. He's lost 100 pounds in 12 months due to fasting (typically 7-10 day fasts) and has 30 pounds to go!
Good luck to all of you!

I did that, too! :p

On Sunday morning, my nausea and swollen throat (mucous discharge) was so bad I broke my fast at 2.5 days. I guess the detox was worse than I expected.
Any of you who are already skinny (at ideal body weight) who fast for reasons other than losing weight?
I guess my body was screaming out for it. Not sure if such a short fast did more harm than good.
a short fast would do good. it's even recommended on naturalnews.com, here's the article click here (http://www.naturalnews.com/024370.html), and i believe at least one raw food guru (don't quite remember his name) that fasting for 36 hours helps the body to cleanse more than not doing it at all. :) he blogged about it.
i think what's important is how the fast is broken and what kind of diet is followed after it. sounds like you did good. if a prolonged fast with supervision can't be done for any reason, shorter fasts and good diet will be cleansing for the body as well. fasting gives the body rest from digestion in order for it to use its energies for other body activities like healing & cleansing.

sorry you're not feeling so hot lynnc.... you'll be back on track soon...
okay -- I'm not at my 'ideal weight' ... or anywhere close to it.. but I actually don't fast to lose weight.... I fast to cleanse my body - or to allow my body the time it needs to rest from digestion.
Fasting allows your body to work on other things that it can't normally get to -- b/c it's having to spend time digesting food.
Fasting is rejuvenating and strengthening to me spiritually and physically (even if I may feel worn down or tierd after a fast - in the long run -- it strengthens me physically). my personal opinion there....
when I reach my goal weight - I will continue to fast ... whether I fast once every 3 to 4 months ... or if I feel led to fast for 1 day a week -- or one meal ... I think fasting is a good thing if done with wisdom.
Many spiritual leaders fasted -- and it wasn't about their weight -- but fasting is a wonderful tool to open us up spiritually!!
Do feel better soon.... ((( hugs! )))

Thanks so much, oai and StarFire!
Great article, oai. I've read it word for word and will save it in my archives.
I feel much better now and I think I've let go of some anger, which was my goal for fasting.
It was a wonderful experience even though there was much discomfort.
Thanks again for your supportive words.

I've pretty much stuck to water but did one or two days where i had some juice. I now have a rash all over so hopefully i'm doing some good detoxing. I'm actually finding it easier than I thought that I would.

Hi All,
This is my first ever post on any rawfood site, however I have been involved with the lifestyle going on two years. I have done several juice fasts and a few cleanses.
I plan to start another juice fast-feast tomorrow...today being my prep. day.
I am hopeful. I think this time around it would be nice to have the virtual support of some november fasters and this is why I write.
The last 6 months has been challenging in many facets and any and all attempts to juice, etc. have not been fulfilled. I know it is possible as I have been there and enjoyed the process on previous occasions. So, despite some nerves and trepidation, I will start. Hopefully there may be one or two souls who will be there on the journey that I might be able to exchange encouragement with.
Best!
