Lately I can't stop eating miso, in everything, on everything. Does anyone know what is in it that I could be needing? Salt? Pro-biotics? Amino-acids?
Or is this a symptom of an unhealthy allergy/intolerance to soy products? I've had miso in my raw diet all along, but I've never wanted it more than once a week (let alone more than once a day).

Of the 3 that you mentioned I would have to think that it is the salt.
I can not imagine that your body would let you know that it needed probiotics or amino acids.

What makes up the sodium in miso? I would like to use it occasionally, but I've noticed the milligrams are always very high - around 450+ mg.
Rawstrength maybe your body simply needs what it's providing as you mention. I have problems when I consume too much sodium though. When I get cravings I start making celery juice and it seems to help a lot.

Good point. It's probably the salt. I've been running and sweating a lot.

Thanks for the question and the answers. Have at least three kinds of miso in my fridge at all times. Really got me thinking if it was salt or enzymes. Figure pretty good for the body so not going to worry about the 1 to 2 times a week nice cup of miso.

I don't know. Years ago I remember eating a lot of miso for a few months and then never again. Just never wanted it. Then I bought some chickpea miso because my mom was supposed to have it and I found a raw recipe that called for it. I couldn't stand the taste.
