my burgers sometimes fall apart when they are dehydrating. would you please share with me any classic burger recipies you like?
i would be most grateful. i'm not looking for a curry burger or any one flavour that dominates. i just want to find a recipe thats got a good beefy kind of texture that i can spice up for good old classic american hamburger.
thanx.

I know we have some here, but didn't pop up when doing my search, but www.goneraw.com is a great place also for tons of recipes besides Alissa's book and others books and sites.
I saw many recipes there by typing in word burger. You can also look for "fries" and ketchup to go with it as well.
Here's one I found at www.goneraw.com. You may want to grind some flax seeds, maybe 1/2 c. to start, mix in some water, get it so that it will help bind with other ingredients. Maybe nuts below does, but you want it to gel together...use little water always to begin.
Live Garden Burgers
serves 4
Pour nuts in food processor remove ground nuts and place into a bowl.
Ingredients
1 cup nuts
2 carrots
1 tablespoon oil
1 tablespoon seasoning your choice
1 tablespoon sweetener(agave,dates,etc)
1 slice onion
Preparation
add rest of ingredients then combine make into balls and serve. I also added extra season, I love my spices.
I find it very delish.

Great thanks. i have been looking thru most of my books and online as well.
i sorted thru goneraw.com but i thought i would ask the board here to see if someone has a recipe they really like.
i do think you are right about the flax seeds. i think i need that binder to make the burgers stay together.
i will try your recipe but i have to dehydrate them because i like the consistancy of a dehydrated burger. if i just have them freshly made i feel like i am eating a salad....and they mush down under my thick slices of raw onion LOL.
i am still all for making SAD food analogs. burgers, meatloaf, mashed potatoes and all the great food i enjoyed when SAD.
these things are real important to me.
not that i dont enjoy salads and smoothies and fruits but when it comes to a meal at the end of a long work day. i want it warm and dense.
i havent tried Alissa's chicken fingers but they look like something i would enjoy.
if anyone else has other suggestions to share... i would very much appreciate it.
thanx.

Don't know ab the falling apart thing, but you should try Matt Amsden's book called RAWvolution. He has a recipe for a burger called the Big Matt. There have been some really great reviews on all of his recipes, but especially this burger. His book talks ab not just throwing a bunch of raw food together and calling it a meal, but really trying to create a wonderful transition with similar flavors. I let a friend borrow it. If your unable to get it, i'll send you the recipe.

SheLovesToEat,
Glad you could use. I use this for my burgers and rarely make the meatloaf out of it. Have made meatballs out of it, too. Maybe need to try this as a rawvioli filling next.
