so, who has the low down on raw baby food?
who's done it? who's got recipes? do you add vitamins to the food? what do you store the food in? what's the measurement for one meal? etc.
just got pregnant and i'm trying to educate myself as much as possible during the pregnancy.
peace

for me there was no "food" but the boob for many months. after that it was a taste of this or that fruit or veg, either the juice or i chewed it up for baby. with my son i used a small hand operated baby food mill to mash up things like baby spinach and apple or kale and pear or apple and sweet potato, things like that. i avoided starchy foods like avo and banana until closer to age 1. with my daughter she didn't like mushy foods to i would just sit her in her chair and give her a few squashed blueberries or some chunks of soft fruit like peaches or melon and let her feed herself. she's 16 months now and still wants to feed herself (with a fork now, she insists).

never give a baby anything chunky that doesn't soften up with pressure such as carrot or apple. those are choking hazzards as they don't mush up in the mouth and can get caught in the throat. and make sure never to give anything round like grapes, they have to be cut into quarters, even a half a grape can get caught in the throat. that's why i squashed the blueberries for her, they weren't round that way.

now my daughter likes green smoothies but only because she can drink from a sippy cup. she hated me trying to feed her that on a spoon, it just didn't work for her.

we waited as long as possible, until our daughter was nabbing bananas out of our hands, to really give her solids. we used a hand food mill and did the standard things like apples, pears, bananas, avocados. we also used this cool little netted gadget that you can put fruit in, but they can't choke on and basically they get a lot of liquid out. check it out...

the baby safe feeder.

we did and still do give our 19mo vitamins. i had a very very hard time with nursing and we supplemented her with liquid vitamins from trace mineral research. she still gets her vitamins every day.

I'd like to be invited to the blog so I can find out more about raw food recipes for babies. I have a 9 month old and I have been feeding him homemade food since he was 3 months old. Raw pureed fruits and steamed veggies. I'm trying to switch my whole family to more raw foods and have a really picky 11 year old as well. I notice when I eat more than 51% raw I feel great, and my sons keeps talking about wanting to fast. If you or someone can help... Thanks! :)

Not much information on the topic but there are more and more parent that have raised their child from birth to 100% raw.

I am one of them that had a success story with raw baby. My daughter never wanted cook food and she was a very fussy eater. I learned that you need to trust your children more then your program about they need such and such, portion of this etc. etc.... Two main food is essential for a child fruits and plant food rich in fatty acid.

Because she was such a fussy eater meaning she didn't want anything but a smoothie that i will make with fruits and hemp seeds (rich in omega 3/6), I continue to produce milk up to age 4.

Short story, she had her blood work done to check if she was deficient in any nutrients and she scored high with the amino acid (protein) and no deficiency. She started not long after to accept more different food (fruits/nut) and i then stopped producing milk with my pump.

Today, she is 6 years old and she is radiant of health.

I learned that after age 2, a child doesn't need anymore milk. I recommend that you let go all the programming and believes and start to tune in to your intuition. At time, a child all they want, is the same food. It could be blueberries, other time, they want flax seed base food.

If i was you, i would give fruits, young coconut (you can make a nice cream with that so easy to do), hemp seeds

Simple recipe, is called smoothie, lol... Truly, such banana, strawberries, water and hemp seeds. Try to introduce a little bit of chunk on purpose at some point, just that they can get use to the texture and you don't hand up with problem.

NO NUTS OR HONEY PRODUCT until they are past one year old. They can develop allergies apparently.

A child is completely in tune with their body, it is important not to suppress that with salt or ingredient to over stimulate them. They love plain food.

My daughter is just starting to like gourmet, she doesn't like mix stuff but she started to love crackers etc...

RELAX and listen. Those are my advices. I was so worry and scare, you have no idea because i was responsible for her life and well being. As all the mother, i wanted to do it right but i was lucky that i had a fussy eater and determine little girl. She taught me to trust.

All the best
