I find it interesting that the only time I have ever heard weightloss being referred to as weight 'released' is on this forum. Just an observation. :D

HAHAHAHA! my thoughts exactly. is it wordplay? or is there some real technical reason for saying that ?
i think it's cute. :) i consider "lost" is like losing something you actually want back. now weight is not a bad thing, but weight from unhealthy food... pfffft! although release makes me think of healing a wounded animal, & letting the animal free into the wild. :p

Aleesha had a great way of explaining it.
Not necessarily her words exactly, but how I interpreted what she said:
When you release it's gone forever.
When you lose it, you're apt to find it again. haha.
This has really helped me shift my paradigm on the subject. Feels like freedom. :D

I think that released is better than lost, but maybe we could find even a better word? Let's use our raw creativity (or a thesaurus).
Main Entry: release
Part of Speech: noun
Definition: delivery; dispensation
Synonyms: absolution, acquittal, acquittance, charge, clemency, commute, deliverance, discharge, emancipation, exemption, exoneration, floater, freedom, freeing, let-off, liberation, liberty, lifeboat, lifesaver, manumission, relief, spring, turnout, walkout
I like "relief." Example: I am relieved of the burden of carrying excess weight.

Good idea. I like relief.
I like the words transformed and regeneratedalso. Because I view this from a health perspective - I see how I've transformed my cells, organs, systems, rebuilt systems, balanced my fat/muscle ratio, emotions, intellect & spirit above and beyond weight release. It's possibily not gramatically correct, but I think I will start saying I regenerated xyz lbs. :)

I regenerated my whole body/mind/soul :D .

I tend to use transformed or eliminated. When I eliminate something, I plan on it being gone!
Transformed weight is when one is actually working out say they are not really eliminating weight; they are transforming their shape and adding muscle.
Eliminate fat!

Thanks for asking this question. I've also wondered why this is the only place I here people say release instead of lost.

I like using "released" as I have no intention or desire to "find" the "lost" weight that is no longer a part of my life. It is indeed liberating.

HAHA! So I am not alone in wondering about this... I just say that I "lost" weight, personally. I am just happy that we are all going in the right direction, whatever we call it! :D

i thought the whole released thing was really weird at first. and then after months of trying with no success, 7 lbs was gone and i thought "wow, i released that." and then i realized it somehow seemed more correct.

it's actually Alissa's term for letting go of excess weight/fat from our bodies and personally i love it. i say it everywhere, even in my daily life with friends. we want to release... release the toxins, release the emotions caught in that fat and those toxins... release release release.
i am happy, willing and able to release all that is no longer assisting me and functional in my life and body... my physical, emotional, mental, conscious and unconscious as well as my spiritual self.
ahhhhh to release... when we release we gift our Selves room to be refilled with NEW!
