My blender broke today. :(

Now a VitaMix is on my mind. I can afford one, but I want to know from ya'll--is it really worth it?

Or is there another brand, comparable in quality, but cheaper?

I have a blendtech, which is more or less the same price, very happy with it, but would consider the next time buying a vitamix since it is more versatile and you more user friendly, if you go through the manual of the Blendtech you think you do a degree in computer scienc

As a recent convert from a 12 speed Osterizer to a Vitamix 5200 I can tell you it is worth it. The difference is amazing. Now I wonder how I ever got by without it.

Hi. I love my high speed blender. I have a blendtec and use it everyday, usually several times. It can do so much more than a regular blender.

I have never owned a Vitamix, but from what I hear they are wonderful too.

Regarding the blendtec and the post about it being complex: my first blendtec had numbers on the front and you had to hit certain combinations to make it work. It was challenging and I never quite got the hang of it. I was having problems with getting it to work after a few years of use (seperate from understanding the combination of numbers issue). I called Blendtec and they asked me to send it back so they could look at it. Within a week, they send me a new blender (even though I didn't have a receipt and had never registered it). The new blender they sent me has home version on it and instead of numbers, I have buttons that say smoothie, ice cream, etc. It is so-o-o much easier to use.

So, a detailed way of saying, I think it is so worth it to get a powerful blender. Which one probably is personal preference, but if you go with blendtec, I would stay away from the one with just numbers on the front. Happy shopping. Z

Oh, most definitely worth it. (have been enjoying it for just over 10 months) ...in fact, I use it much more often than my food processor.

I use my Vitamix multiple times a day, and I LOVE IT! Many people claim to have theirs 20+ years, although the warranty is seven years. SEVEN YEARS!! That's $700 worth of blenders you'd otherwise be buying, for a $400 machine.

I've never used the Blend-Tech, but have heard good things. Yet, for every positive Blendtech comment, I hear about fifteen Vitamix comments. Perhaps just the ratio of users?

SO WORTH IT! Buy one! And then we can jump and hop and skip excitedly for you singing like crazy people. Wait until you make your first nut butter!!!!!!!!! I'm excited already for you!!!! Take the plunge!

It is soooo worth it. I did fine with my blender for years (or so I thought). Finally got the Vitamix last spring and have been hitting myself on the head that I didn't get it sooner. No comparison.

I've used my vitamix everyday for the entire six years that I have been raw and I still love it!!! The best investment I ever made in myself! :-)

My Vitamix broke yesterday, too -- or so I thought...smoke everywhere with only pineapple and spinach and water - so I thought it was done.

I called the Vitamix company and still have a few months left on my warranty, and we did some tests over the phone and the base is actually fine, it is the bearings in the container that broke, so they are sending me a new wet container free of charge. Yay!

But in the meantime, I did do some searching online on K-Tec vs. Vita comments and even if I had to replace it, I would have still gone with my beloved Vitamix.

I've had mine for 6 years and I love it. Use it practically every day, sometimes multiple times per day. You can throw an apple into it and have raw applesauce. Delicious and talk about fast food!! Smoothies are fabulous also.

The same thing happened to me. Something wasn't quite right and they diagnosed it over the phone. Sent me a brand new part and even paid the shipping. Amazing!

I have been doing my shopping too. One of my friends has a Vitamix, I have another that has a Blendtec - my Blentec friend is always so jealous of my Vitamix friend. I have used both and love the Vitamix- so easy to use, things turn out so effortlessly beautiful

I have a cheapy blender right now and hope to make a purchase of a Vitamix next month. Costco has the new Vitamix 5200 on sale right now that has lots of extra perks if you buy from their site www.costco.com, there are also some deals on the vitamix https://secure.vitamix.com/acb/stores/4/index.aspx?ac=mag07$cid=getvitamix

I too was really reluctant to spend all that money on my Vitamix 5200, thinking it couldn't be that much better. Well, it is, and I love it.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I just ordered the Vita Mix 5000, the refurbished one from their website.

I *cannot* wait to get it! Now I just have to survive the next 10 days without a blender while I wait for my Vita Mix to arrive! :o
