"Raw Food Real World" has a recipe that calls for raw peanuts.

If you soak them, don't leave them too long. I tried soaking and then airdrying. They dried on the outside, but not on the inside, so, I tried dehydrating. They were in the D24 hrs and were still soggy and weird. Good thing I only tried this on a few nut. I like them better just raw out of the shell.

unfortunately, raw peanuts (except apparently the "jungle peanuts" sold by a particular raw foods company) contain aflatoxins (sp?) so most raw fooders avoid them (but then raw corn apparently contains these toxins too, and many raw fooders use raw corn, so i dont know...) ... you might want to google/research this and decide for yourself--

sorry

I know about the aflatoxins, but I've actually been eating raw peanuts all my life. Not often, but every now and then. Here in the south, peanuts are such a staple food.

Raw corn, raw pecans and raw peanuts all can contain aflatoxins, which is a kind of deadly mold. Exposure to aflatoxins causes liver disease.
Aflatoxin grows when the food is too old / not fresh. So make sure you get really fresh corn/pecans/peanuts.
Many "raw" peanuts sold in the store are blanched to kill aflatoxin, so they're not really raw.
www.rawfromthefarm.com sells really really fresh raw pecans. If you live in an area where peanuts are grown, you could probably get fresh, truly raw ones from a farmer's market.
Corn isn't so much of a problem for aflatoxin for raw fooders because we eat fresh sweet corn, not old dried corn.

Most pecans aren't raw...and they're expensive. Good reason to avoid. And raw peanuts just aren't that great. Also avoid. Peanuts have the highest concentration of aflatoxin.
