hmmm, could it be all the fiber and roughage?? I find that if I eat fiberous stuff like celery I get hungry shortly afterwards.

As long as you don't have any nutritional deficiencies and are eating a balanced diet of a variety healthy fruits and veggies, and are not stringently avoiding fats, here are my thoughts. (Of course this may not be what's going on with you but I think it's fairly common.)
I think it's because cooked food is so heavy.
On Raw, you never fill your stomach up with a giant gob of sludge like when eating SAD, and so you never know you're "full," which is what you've come to call that logy, weighted-down feeling.
I think (particularly in the first months or even years of eating raw) a lot of people will eat and eat and eat, mistakenly believing they're hungry and looking for that "full" feeling, but over time, their bodies become accustomed to feeling lighter and their feelings of "hunger" subside.
Your brain catches up with your body in knowing that you are way more nutritional bang for your caloric buck on Raw, and everything normalizes.
I truly believe in Alissa's philosophy of eating raw:
Eat what you want, when you want, as much as you want. It's all good. :)

I am finding the opposite. Since I have been eating raw at least until supper(so far) I have no cravings and never seem hungry. Leads me to believe I am addicted to flour and sugar.

On the SAD diet people tend to eat larger quantities of food which provide minimal nutrients and minerals. Over time they are are actually starving. You have to eat more and more to get less. As you transition from cooked to raw your body may be compensating now by enjoying more of that great nutrition you're getting from the raw foods. Acting somewhat like a sponge. Eventually it will reach a point of balance. My suggestion is to just eat when you're hungry, just make sure it's raw. Don't worry about judging your appetite. Trust your body knows what it's doing. It's probably very thrilled you're giving it the tools to heal now and more than that plenty of great fuel. There are so many thresholds on this journey. Your diet, appetite, body, emotions, lifestyle etc will more than likely go through many shifts and changes. There are so many gifts and benefits you have to look forward to. Just go with the flow and enjoy your food. Best wishes.

I fit this mold. I go through bags of dates and at least 2-3 avocados a day, yet I'm not putting on any weight. I eat before going to bed, and a lot of times while in bed! :D

the sad thing is that its not our body. Its our brain. Its saying: Stay the same, be comfortable, be secure. Cooked food is like a bracket for the comfortable people. But to get something big(like freedom and health) u need to do something uncomfortable.
U know what? Stoping the feeling let control your life. Watch the feeling. Thats not comfortable. Beeing comfortable is to stay controled by your feelings.
Beeing comfortable is incredible uncomfortable. But learning to refuse to be controled by feelings is not easy. It takes a lot of awareness.
The feeling of beeing hungry all the time shows that u re mentally addicted to eat (the best "flash" gives cooked) food. That sounds strange. Its eating food not because of nutrition but mostly because u re addicted to the feeling it provides to you.
What u re getting out of that addiction. A little bit. U get the feeling of security. Its the bracket of the looser:(. Its what keeps u away from your fears - AND YOUR BIGGEST POTENZIAL!!! It provides a secure place as the person you ve been.
But it keeps you away from using you whole potenzial. U can stay in your comfortzone and eat away everyhing.
As a free raw person u have to face reality much harder. You can grow much bigger but if u re on the ground there is no bracket anymore.
Security or freedom. We all have to choose, u cant get both all the time.

Woah, mongodelight! That was quite a post.
I believe it is best to take steps that make us slightly uncomfortable, but not overwhelmed. Going raw is a huge step in the right direction. Eating less is the next big step. To do both at once would be impossible for most people, and might cause a relapse to an utterly terrible diet.
I am working to achieve my biggest potential, one small step at a time.
Slow and steady wins the race, as they say :) .

Thank you very much! A slow and steady race is what probably what happens. But speeding up is possible. Its not a rule that u have to struggle long to get to your goal. U can be the exception of the rule!
I strongly believe that whats possible for us is determined by what our subconscious mind think is possible. Why? A personal experience.
I got an injury and thought because its hurting when i am walking its getting worse. When i was thinking its not getting better after months . When i thought it would last maybe half a year because i had injuries that last long ago before.
When i went to the doctor. He said to me in a very believeable honest communication that its only a very small injury and the pain got nothing to do with the healing process.
Guess what? I came with brackets. I had strong pain when i had 2 lbs pressure on the foot. I walked with brackets and had strong pain. The same day i walked 1 1/2 miles like a normal guy and it didnt hurt.
Thats the power of believe. I mean really believe, believe deep inside.
If Donald Trump was ur close friend his honest words of encouragement would make u do incredible things. If a billionaire, which u like and respect; always encourage you to make millions with your own buisness - I am sure that this believe of him(what he thinks of u), becomes your strong believe and you make it. I think the possibility u wouldnt make it would be near zero %.
Thats why i would love to find some rich and/or(:D) successful friends.A very positiv thinking person is a successful person for me even if that person has in the eyes of others not much reason to think positiv.

A lot of people don't know what hunger is and what it feels like, because they never had to experience it. They will then equate "emptiness" with "hunger". We do use food a lot to satisfy our emotions, so that feeling we get when we are upset that sends us to the fridge to search for that lasst piece of chocolate cake is the only thing we know that we might equate with hunger. People in this country do not die of starvation. It's quite good for a person to experience real hunger just so we know what it is. Go on a one day fast (or longer). That feeling when your stomach rumbles and your knees feel weak, that's much closer to real hunger. If you are quite heavy, you could also be pre diabetic and get light headed when your blood sugar drops. Keep eating raw, it will get better. Make sure you get enough nutrients and calories for your activity level, then ignore the "hunger feeling". Instead of reaching for more food, drink a glass of water.

HAHAHAHA! well..... i love a good meal and there is plenty to be had on raw.
i am not an emotional eater... and in the line of work i USED to do... confidence was everything ! so got plenty of that. life is peaceful, full and stress free and i am pleased to be in a very good place now. it did take a while to get here.
i just happen to be one hungry girl. so all the over analyzing on the mental reasons for being hungry dont apply here. but its certainly entertaining.
VERY entertaining.
i figure its just my body telling me it wants fuel.....and of course i am quite happy to give it. i was just thinking out loud about why some of us are so hungry on raw and some arent.
its nice to hear what everyone thinks.

Why are some people so hungry on raw and others not?
Emotional and mental issues aside, we all have different metabolisms, different lifestyles, and different caloric needs.
yeah. everyone is so different as to why this is. you'd have to find out why it is for you.
when i read that it may be because of nutritional deficiencies, i kept eating & eating... actually felt bad but being on SAD is worse though. don't get me wrong.
after my 2nd fast, the cravings were gone. my thoughts are still there, but when i actually go to eat, it's like i don't have the "taste" for taking in so much food anymore. i'm full for hrs. on only a fruit. seriously, "a" fruit. fasting helped whatever was inside my body that was telling me to eat & eat. that was my experience. plus, emotionally & mentally, i was an over eater who just didn't gain weight beyond 140lbs. so i could eat & eat. i still feel that pull. but like i said, when i do go to eat, i could put it down w/ no willpower on my part. my body just won't take the food, man.

raw doesnt stay with me for that long. even if i eat lots of nuts and seeds and heavier things. my system just seems to burn thru everything i put into it like a paper shredder.
i dont mind it... but it does keep me busy in the kitchen.
i am one that only eats when i am hungry. some people have other reasons for eating but i let my stomach tell me when its time for food.
i was actually born with 2 stomachs LOL. i dont usually go around telling people that but here.... no one really knows me.
i dont think thats the reason i am any hungrier that others but like i said... raw doesnt stay with me for long.
maybe things will even out over time but i have to say generally i feel great all the time...alot better than on SAD.
just got alot of food prep to do to keep the wolf from the door. LOL.
