I made a "rice pudding" recipe I found using chia seeds. It's really good! Made with almond milk, vanilla, raisens, cinnamon.

I would love other pudding ideas if anyone has any:)

I've been eating that chia seed "rice" pudding a lot lately.

I had a little leftover chocolate smoothie made from almond milk, frozen banana, dates, agave, cacao powder, and vanilla.
I threw in 1 T. of shredded coconut and 1 T. of dry chia seeds. Shook it up and put it in the fridge to gel. It was luscious and scrumptious!:)

Have any of you tried adding chia seeds to savory recipes?
Lately I have been using them to thicken my raw soups. It gives them more of a stick-to-your ribs feeling. I like the way chia seeds fill me up without weighing me down. They also provide sustained energy.

When you make your smoothies with them in (or soups), do you soak them first and then add the gel? Or do you just add them in dry with the rest of the ingredients in the blender? Thanks! I REALLY want to start adding these into our diet! :D

Shine? I just throw 'em into my blender. At the HFS? I sometimes just crunch on a spoonful of them - dry...and then drink PLENTY of water...

Yeah, they are virtually tasteless and crunchy. Nice effect when they get stuck in one's teeth! LOL!!!

Has anyone tried blending the chia into, lets say almond milk, does it still set up? Or does the seed need to be intact for it to "set up"?

Well, I am speechless!! This stuff is amazingly good! I just used 1/2 Cup Almond Mylk, a touch of Vanilla, 1 Tablespoon of Chia seeds and a touch of sweetener. Tastes like Tapioca just like they said it would. Fabulous!

THNX VFL for that link again.....

OMG, this is my variation on the recipe.... SOOOO DEEEE-lish :D

First I made cashew milk w/1/4 c. of cashews and 1/2 c. water
I didn't have raisins, so added dried cherries
chia seeds
3 drops vanilla
pinch of celtic sea salt
honey
cinnamon
allspice

I was AMAZED at how (r)AWsome this tasted! I put in in a glass bowl with a cover and shook it a few times - total time I let it set was 30 minutes.
ThANks for sharing this - I LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!!!

I'm sorry I don't know where this recipe came from. So, I don't know who gets the credit, but it sure isn't me.

We make this often. Really very simple to make. I've passed this on to a friend who enjoys some of this every day with her husband. Also, she's hooked 3 more couples onto it.

I'd just recommend to leave out the butterscotch flavoring unless you actually know of a truly natural one.

Chia Pudding (Raw Tapioca)

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 cup Chia Seeds
1 cup total combined raw nuts:
almonds or pistachios, walnuts & macadamias
1/4 cup of organic shredded coconut or 1 tablespoon
-- of lecithin
1/2 plus cups of agave nectar (stevia
-- or maple syrup can be used)
Vanilla
1 tsp Cinnamon
1 Tbs of butterscotch flavoring (optional)
pinch of good Salt (sea, celtic, redmond’s,
-- red salt, etc.)
1. Place the nuts in a bowl and cover with good filtered water for 1-4
hours.

2. Put the chia seeds in a large mixing bowl (it must be able to hold 8-10
cups) and pour 6 cups of good filtered water over the seeds, and stir with a
wire whisk. Stir a second time in another 15 minutes. This keeps the seeds
from clumping.

3. After the nuts have soaked (referred to as activating), drain off the
water, put the nuts in a blender along with the coconut, agave nectar,
Vanilla, Cinnamon and salt. Add one cup of filtered water to the blender,
and whirl on high for a couple of minutes until everything is a smooth milky
consistency.

4. Pour the mixture into the bowl with the chia seeds and whisk until
blended. And it is done!

5. Store in a glass jar in the frig.
Cooking Tip: I eat it for breakfast with sliced banana, or as a quick snack.
Also if you know anyone with cancer or any other illness, this helps them
with more strength during their challenge; remember chia seeds are gentle on
the stomach, high in protein and easy to digest. Add a tablespoon of the gel
to baby food. Babies love it. Just make is part of you and your family’s
daily staple. Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heather

I don't blend it, I just mix the chia seeds into the almond milk with a spoon, let it sit at least 30 minutes. I usually let mine sit overnight in the refrigerator to really plump up those chia seeds.
