pcos is all about chronically elevated insulin, caused by excess sugar and refined carbs in diet, and lack of exercise, and insulin is a master hormone, so whatever balances it will help. That is SO awesome how fast your body is healing! :)

Congratulations!!!!!

I lost my period through starvation once (chronic SAD dieting) and it felt so good once I regained enough weight to get it back.
You must feel terrific! Have a celebration - rejoice in you.

I have been struggling with PCOS all my life that has gotten worse in the last few years. I just turned 35. I did a raw food boot camp for a few months and lost 20 pounds. My periods became more regular. I stopped the raw for a month and gained 5 pounds and had a long period again with lots of pimples and hair growth Yuck! I usually do 80% raw. I did raw both times I got pregnant with my children. I have two. We've been trying for a third child for almost 7 months but nothing yet. However, I could still lose more weight. I think the raw works because low carbs work with PCOS and the veggies have no carbs and lots of good nutrition. I haven't read Alyssa's book yet but would love to. In raw food boot camp, we did low fat protein with the raw and it worked great! I have tried every diet book on the market and spend thousands and raw is the only thing that works for me!!! It is hard though because my kids don't like raw as much and then if I cook for them, I am tempted to eat it!

I too have pcos. I haven't had my period in almost 2 years. I've been 100% raw for 8 months. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was diagnosed 5 years ago, I've always been active and at a healthy weight. The raw foods have helped to completely clear up my acne, but I can't seem to get my period back and don't want to take any hormones.

I was diagnosed with pcos a few years ago. I haven't had a period since August, and I believe that one to have been induced by progesterone pills. I just started another round of pill to make me have one.

I was vegan for 2 months recently, and just last week I went back to vegetariansm (I have a serious addiction to cheese). I am fighting with myself right now because I really really want to go raw vegan. (I have terrible will power). During the time I was vegan I kept having all the symptoms of starting my period but it never came. (cramps, bloating, ect) Perhaps raw could help push me over that fence and give me my reproductive health back.

Congrats on yours! You give me hope.
