For the life of me, I can't get these to sprout. I get the unhulled kind. I seem to also have difficulty digesting them and am thinking those two issues might be related.

Has anyone gotten these to sprout with a tail? Can you take a picture?

I treat them the same way as I would treat flax seeds. I either grind them or soak them but I never wait for them to sprout.
Do you have difficulty with them if you have soaked them for 4 hours and rinsed them well.

I soak my unhulled sesame seeds and they digest fine. Otherwise (if I don't soak them) they just pass right through me.

Hi Sport -

I soak overnight at least, or 24 hours.

I guess that you and sesame seeds are just not friends.

That is very possible!

Do you get tails on yours when you sprout them?

I manage to get tails on my brown sesame seeds. I had a similar problem and was trying seeds from different stores, as I KNEW they would grow tails from a test a couple of years ago. Local HFS seeds wouldn't do a thing, but seeds from Whole Foods DID produce tails after I had already given up on them. Try soaking them for something like 6 hours, then keep rinsing several times a day - until the tails grow. They seem to take much longer than other seeds to produce a tail, so don't give up too early in the sprouting process!
Also, sesame seeds sprouted to the point of a tail makes them unpalatable (bitter). I was persistent because I wanted to know that I am eating live sesame seeds but for consumption I only soak them for a few hours.

Thanks SD!

How many days until you saw tails?

I think it was the third day rinsing but I'm not sure... just keep going until they either go bad (smell) or show their little tails!
