I've been about 95% raw for the past 2 weeks and I have lost almost 10 pounds. I know - I shouldn't be complaining, but it makes me a little nervous for some reason. I eat plenty of avocadoes, nuts, seeds, young coconut, three large very green salads a day, a green smoothie every morning - lots! I feel awesome, but will I keep losing at this rate? I am 5'11" and now weigh 142 lbs. The lowest I have ever been is 135 and I was really starving myself! (In my early 20's) I am attaching a before and after - the after was taken last night (um, no that food is not raw, it was for a homework assignment!)

I hear ya. Im a little concerned about muscle loss and some other stuff cause I seem to be dropping weight too. Ive been a gym rat off and on most of my life so I have a surplus of muscle but I still dont like the idea.
I would check out maybe putting your foods into fitday and seeing what you come up with for calories and add some if you need to (i was really surprised at how low mine were).

I do not think that either of you should worry as this mostly happens in the beginning. People thought that I was sick after I first went raw because I was too skinny.
I put most of it back on without changing my diet.
This is what Raw Foodists call loosing your "False Body". When you have lost it you will find your real body and it will be better than before.
I had better warn you that you will probably be colder than usual this winter but that too will pass.

I only lost weight in the beginning, I put about 5lbs back on. I am 5'7 and big boned. My lowest was 140 which I went to at the beginning really fast... It was my goal (should change that in my signature)... but my body went back up to 145... and I stay there no matter how much I eat. I am a firm believer that my body knows what weight I should be.........it just likes where it is!
See what happens!

oh i released so much weight when i first went raw... then it leveled out for me (or plateaued depending on how you look at it)... so no worries, it's just your body releasing the yuck and replacing it with yum!

im 15 years vegan , with past 3 years raw vegan . on cooked whole food vegan after an initial weight loss i became same size as on standard american diet . then upon going raw the first year i went down from like 185 to low 170's . at which time i started heavily eating walnuts / avacado / banana etc and within the next 6 months (at 18 months raw) i went to like 195 with a massive gut :o i had to burn off . so in my experience there was an adjustment period then you can get as fat as you want :D
ps - hi up there aleesha :-)

I have only been high raw for about 2 month now, and in the begining I really freaked out because I was loosing weight really fast (I was skinny to begin with). But after a week of adding a little cooked to my raw diet, I went back 100% raw. And I have to say that my weight stoped and is now going up. Really slow but going up non the less (YES). So yes it will balance out :)
Maby I have change a little on my diet aswell, begining to crave more nuts, dates and bananas because it is getting colder, that might be a part of it I dont know. But it is going up :D

I agree with pp in that your body knows where it wants to be and will be there easily. I can relate in that I am losing weight right now fairly quickly and I have been raw for some time. I recently found out I am allergic to nuts and have had to eliminate them from my diet...causiing some weight loss. I know my body will find its set point, though. As long as you are eating a well balanced diet, drinking enough fluids and feeling good I wouldn't worry too much! :D
