Hi all~
I want to share this since it is such a big issue for women, especially, on raw.
I am losing a lot of weight really fast this time around on raw. Today is my 6th day, and while I am not on a scale, I can say that I've for sure gone from a size 8 to almost a 4 in these 6 days. I NEVER did that so fast when I went raw all of the other times I've tried in the last 10 years.
Here is what I think is making the difference this time. I want to share because so many of us seem to have really slow weight loss going raw.
This time around I was not drinking alcohol for 7 months before going raw, was vegan for 3 months and was exercising regularly for about 6. That means that I was preparing my body by detoxing BEFORE going 100%.
I have found that if the body/liver/colon is toxic, the liver will not signal to release stored subcutaneous fat until the organs are detoxed first. That means that preparing for raw with vegan, no toxic substances (such as alcohol and sugar, etc) and exercising BEFORE going 100% will speed up results.
Going 100% will of course detox us as well, but just be patient for the weight loss-it will come when the liver is ready to process the stored fat.
I've done this several times over the last 20 years. I'm pretty amazed at how much fat I'm losing so quickly this time.
Just wanted to share!!
Blessings!

I'm wondering the same thing, because I ordered an Internal Cleansing Kit (which does a liver cleanse) in preparation for going 100% Raw. Right now I'm only 80%, so I'm going to follow theresaann's suggestions and make the 20% non-raw, completely vegan. I don't drink; then I'm starting an exercise plan. My sister (who's not raw) invited me to go to the gym with her, so I'll have a gym partner. I'll track my progress to see. I'll start 20% vegan today and I'm going to the gym tonight with my sister. Thanks theresaann for this, I'm doing RAW for weight loss, so this is terrific information!

Hi all~ just want to add I watched Matthew Monarch last night on the "rawkathon" interview and he reminded me about the importance of colonics and high enemas.
THey are so important to keep the detox process happening. People think that because they are 100% raw and aren't constipated that they don't need them, but he explains that it's toxic cellular GASSES that we need to get out that matters on all raw.
Last year I bought a 4 QT enema kit per his suggestion and have used it a few times. I am going to go back to that, at least 2X a week, see how that goes. I really want this to work and what he says makes a lot of sense.
Check out his interview here-it will be available until 8 tonight (EST) I think:

He has been educated by Fred Bisci on much of this who has been raw for 50 years! Hes' pretty smart about this stuff.

All good points here!
Yes, the liver is hugely important as it has to do something like 500 different processes in our bodies. If more people wrapped their brains seriously around that, they'd treat their livers a lot better - LOL! This is especially so for women, and as we age, stuff like hormonal imbalances show up in the picture, as well as how we utilize glucose(pancreas). There are hormonal imbalances showing up at younger and younger ages, not just at menopause for many women due to the excessive chemicalization of our environment. And guess what, our livers are over-taxed often with just trying to keep up with all this stuff that they don't have a chance to deal with fat what with all the other assaults and keeping up other functions. There are some people out there who are saying that the body creates fat as a buffer in response to these chemical assaults as well, something to consider anyway.
Recently I posted here about a finger-prick blood test showing me borderline pre-diabetic and elevated cholesterol(neither of which problem I had prior to menopause), and as you know since I'm here, I have a pretty clean diet and also am on a solid fitness program. However, it has been TOUGH to get even a few extra pounds(which is all I have fortunately for me)to budge. 10 days ago, I went to my acupuncturist and he gave me a formula that addresses both liver and kidney meridians, and with no further change in my diet or physical program, a couple of pounds have dropped off me just like that. I'm sleeping better too. This general herbal formula is commonly given to menopausal women, and diabetics(in greater doses for the latter). The acupuncturist also mentioned that my cholesterol should decrease as a result too because it balances out one's hormonal situation in a way that is appropriate to one's own body at this time. All this WITHOUT throwing hormones at us, which is what Western medicine wants to do to make big $$ off of us and keep us sick too.
IOne elder of the raw food movement put it forth that the main cause of many conditions is toxicity. Given the state of things today, that makes a lot of sense, IMO.
Totally true about getting onto a solid exercise program too - there's no solid fat loss program out there that DOESN'T include it.
this saved me a ton of research and time.

So you've gone raw several times over the last 20 years? Sorry but I find your results... umm... unbelievable. Perhaps there is something in your body that is doing things differently this time but honestly... a size 8 down to a 4 in 6 days??? Come on... this is the type of hype that makes raw foods sound like a fad diet instead of a lifestyle choice.
So in your opinion then... anyone who is raw for 6 months and working out should have the same results? Right? So why don't they? Wouldn't their liver be as ready as yours was?
That's just my take on this... you can hold this as truth if you wish, I'm just not jumping on your bandwagon.
Raw live foods in abundance... drinking lots of freshly made juices and clean water... - toss in some green smoothies and THAT'S the lifestyle choice that'll make long term changes to people's weight. At least, that's my opinion. ;)

I was a healthy, vegan, no alcohol and caffeine-free cross-country runner for 3 years before I went raw. When I went raw, I wore a size 8.
I've been raw for a year, and now I wear a size 6. I am young and I excersize a lot. I also don't overeat (I only eat when I'm truly hungry).
So, congrats on losing the weight really fast! But it doesn't happen so quickly for everyone.
You have inspired me, however, to do more for my liver :) . I'm off to get some milk thistle, grapefruits, and schizandra berries.
Peace!

There are a lot of factors that make the liver stagnant, or sluggish. Not all of them are toxins in the body.
I dont' write about it much here, but I am also a medical intuitive and have a medical background and MANY years experience as a CranioSacral Therapist, as well as some Osteopathic training. (forgiveandawaken.com is my site that talks about the intuitive work that I do. I've also written a book and have a dvd that I'm finishing editing of my spiritual channeling work).
Emotional issues are the heart of all health problems. Every thing is vibration. Thoughts are the predominant vibration we are exposed to-OVER food, OVER EMF's and any other source of vibration in our experience. Therefore, our EMOTIONS, and BELIEFS, which are 99% subconscious, basically rule our outer world, including the state of our bodies.
Case in point, I just worked with a woman who is mid fifties, totally whole food vegan, NEVER drank alcohol, has done raw before with limited weight loss results, works out with a personal trainer, is peri-menopausal, and has GAINED 30 pounds in the last couple of months without changing ANYTHING In her routine.
What I saw intuitively (I have been doing this for 15 years and have been clinically proven-I am very accurate) was that her uterus, which is governed by the triple warmer meridian, has been "sucking" energy from the liver. The liver classically FEEDS energy to the reproductive organs/triple warmer by nature, so the triple warmer, one could say, is "over feeding" off of the liver energy. Also, she has had uterine fibroids and very heavy constant bleeding in the past, that was healed with chinese herbs, but the underlying uterine imbalance was not.
Why is her uterus pulling energy from the liver? It has to do with 2nd charka emotional issues. She has a belief that her worthiness as a human being is based on being a caretaker to others-at the expense of herself. Because this is a feminine issue, it is effecting the feminine power center-the uterus.
She is working on the emotional stuff now (I coach people in a particular forgiveness process to do that), and between my bodywork and another guy who does meridian balancing, we are working on stabilizing this stuff. But the biggest thing for her is to heal her thought process, which is vibrationally causing this imbalance in the first place.
So, she doing everything "right" with diet, exercise, etc. Sometimes it's NOT about the food. THink about it. High vibration food is just that-VIBRATION. It counteracts the lower vibration that is causing health imbalances, but it's our THINKING that is the biggest vibrational contributor to our condition.
so healing is not just physical, at all. In my case with the weight loss, I have been going through MASSIVE, and I mean MASSIVE emotional housecleaning the last year, besides giving up the alcohol, and eating raw. So I have been PREPARING my body to be able to release this weight.
If people aren't releasing weight doing all the "right" stuff, then they have to look to the emotions. We are vibrational beings, therefore, we have to look at any health issue as a vibrational issue. Dealing with the person in the mirror is WAY harder than making green smoothies everyday...but its the thing that REALLY creates transformation for real changes physically, emotionally, spiritually.
Just sharing, thanks for letting me! Blessings :)

So, in a way, you lost all the weight over the past year, because you did the work to lose the weight over the past year. You just didn't see the results show up until now.
Great post about the power of our thoughts, BTW. I may have trouble losing weight quickly in part because I once suffered from anorexia, and I never want to go there again. Why was I anorexic? In part because my mother valued appearances very much, and always warned my sister and I that we would be unnattractive if we got fat, from a very young age. But this just skims the surface. There is so much else going on beneath, that I've been dealing with as it comes up. Raw has helped tremendously in bringing buried junk to the surface.
I've agreed to be happy with my body not matter what size it chooses to be. Which right now is a size 6.

"So, in a way, you lost all the weight over the past year, because you did the work to lose the weight over the past year. You just didn't see the results show up until now."
Yes, you could say that, but I think also that all the emotional work I did helped heal my liver, and detox my body so that when I did go raw, my body was ready to release fat faster than before. I really think that the liver is what sets our metabolism and allows the body to release fat or keep it stored if it can't process the toxins stored there.
I don't think a number, like weight or dress size matters one bit. All that matters is if we are healthy and vibrating at a high rate, which IS the measure of real health. And that is more than the food. whatever the "numbers" are at the end of that is irrelevant, because we are where we want to be-balanced, peaceful, glowing, happy, healthy, vibrant. For me, the numbers are moving where they are when I'm in that state. But in and of themselves, they don't matter.
the other times I've gone raw I did not release very much fat. I FELT good and probably would've eventually, but my emotional vibration kept me from staying raw. Dealing with my emotions and raising my vibration that way first seems to have really made the difference this time.
Also, I had to release a lot of fears I had about being attractive. I had initially gained a lot of weight around 12 years ago to protect myself from men. I was leaving a very abusive relationship and wanted to feel safe. That also prevented me from releasing the weight.
We all know that "perfect spot" where we feel our best. I've been there before, albeit not in about 14 years, but I remember that feeling. THAT'S where I want to be. And I had a bit of work to do to feel "safe" to be there again.
We just have to love, love, love ourselves and then love ourselves some more! :p

I don't know about the vibration thing, but a good colon cleansing can really help with weight loss. :) I've heard of people losing up to 30 lbs from getting their colon cleaned out with hydrotherapy. It's probably a good thing to try if you're just going raw.
